They started singing in the showers after football practice and went on to stardom with hits like ""Dead Man's Curve"" and ""Baby Talk."" But a near-fatal car crash in 1966 brought their California dream to an end. Jan Berry and Dean Torrance were born and bred in Southern California, hanging out on the beach and enjoying the sun-and-surf lifestyle. Their recordings perfectly captured the groovy, good-times vibe of the era, and DJs nationwide snapped them up. Drawing on interviews with Dick Clark, Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys (who penned their first #1 hit), and a host of fellow musicians, BIOGRAPHY recalls the days when Jan & Dean were on top of the charts. The singers tell of how they got their start, concert footage shows the pair at their peak, and Jan talks about the accident that effectively ended their careers.
