Movie "Islam" reviewer "American Made" says: "[Muslims] HATE the west for it's (sic) values"
What are our values? America, the richest country on earth, has shorter life spans, more mental illness, more obesity, more of its citizens in prison than any industrialized nation (we have 5% of the world's population but 25% of its prisoners), and more income disparity than any other developed nation (even greater than Iran). These values don't seem too impressive - do they? For years, the American government itself even owned and operated the world's largest brothel. And don't forget, we're also the number one user of actual weapons of mass destruction. We even used them against our own people (hundreds of thousands of soldiers are coming home from Iraq, Bosnia, Kosovo, and Afghanistan affected by radioactive uranium dust from tank weapons and shielding banned by most of the world - look up ehjournal.net/content/4/1/17 and Gulf War Syndrome at Wikipedia). I had a cousin extensively trained at the end of WWII to clean up radioactive conditions after using nuclear weapons in Japan. He was often livid about how his group was instead sent home and thousands of American troops walked through for pictures by the world press to pretend the areas were safe when government officials knew otherwise.
Mexico outlawed slavery before us and New Zealand gave women the right to vote before us. The Sedition Acts once permitted the imprisonment of journalists who simple wrote something uncomplimentary about the government, the stealing of Indian lands was declared legal through the Indian Removal Act, and thousands of Cherokees were walked to death by the famous "Trail of Tears." But, that was only long ago, right? Alas, no! 16,000 Navahos had their own "Trail of Tears" across Arizona in the mid 1980's resulting in 4,000 deaths (while "good" Americans did nothing) in order for the likes of Udall and Goldwater to steal uranium and coal off of the Indian reservations for pennies a ton (where Indians were banned from hiring private attorneys to try to stop the government's illegal actions). Then, I'm originally from Media, Pennsylvania where a break-in at the local FBI office once produced files proving the existence of FBI Red teams specifically built to harass even the likes of Muppet's puppeteer Jim Henson and the local Coroner more recently admitted to regularly stabbing and even shooting corpses to falsify evidence for police arrests.
Alas, American law enforcement has a long history of corruption. Teddy Roosevelt was made Police Commissioner after the Lexow Investigation of 1894 into police corruption in New York showed $300 as the acceptable bride (call the "union wage") for the appointment as a police officer, or "thugs with badges" (but he had no impact because Christian America was just as apathetic as today). The conclusion of the more recent Illinois report after 51% on death row there were shown to be innocent identified systemic problems with "embarrassingly incompetent DAs and overtly corrupt law enforcement." Mollen Commissioner Harold Baer referring to the history of investigations into New York law enforcement (Lexow, 1895; Curran, 1913; Seabury, 1932; Hefland, 1954; Knapp, 1972; and Mollen, 1994) noted that over "the past hundred years, New York City has experienced a twenty-year cycle of corruption, scandal, reform, backslide and fresh scandal in the New York City Police Department." Since the days of Tom Dewey, moreover, investigators have routinely been shown to have just as many connections with criminal elements as any other aspect of law enforcement. The LA Rampart investigation just plain gave up after four years of "struggling to address one of the worst police scandals in American history" concluding that law enforcement was no longer capable of supporting any facsimile of an honest investigation into the use of force by the police. The investigation was started when it became clear that numerous LAPD divisions regularly stole and sold drugs, extorted drug dealers, and even shot and framed innocent citizens in connection with these crimes, leaving up to 30,000 convictions needing to be reviewed (as expected knowing American values, not a single officer was ever charged). Then, every level of our government (up to the president) worked to fabricate a case against Wen Ho Lee simply because he was Chinese (which resulted in a $1.6 million federal settlement).
In the Gila River Japanese internment camp just north of Tucson (where I now live), many native born Japanese Americans were forced to build their own shacks and work as a conscripts for local farmers during WWII (including the father of one of my childhood friends). Worse, after we refused immigration for Jews trying to escape inhuman treatment in Germany and forced them to progress on to a dozen South American countries, the US later kidnapped 5,000 of them back (stealing their possession for local payoffs) for use during POW exchanges and sent them back to Germany to die (including their children). I assume this is just too horrific for you to believe, but see Dateline coverage of the story at rtsp://media.scottnet.net/jacobs/Roundup.rm (again, not one person has ever been charged with a crime). Then, over 1 Million "enemy aliens" were illegally detained (up to 3 years after the war) and much of their property seized. The government has acted similarly without restraint since 9/11. Finally, American Made's country of great values spends more on illegal drugs than on all oil products combined (as well as $100 billion a year on illegal gambling, up from $7 billion in the '90s). There are estimates that a $1 billion is spent just on the streets of Tucson for illegal drugs with almost half of the states having drug seizures of over a ton of drugs bought on this city's streets alone every year. Yes, of course, they hate us for our values (LOL).
Jamaican Hanes workers, for instance, were made to work 12-hour days without being allowed to eat or go to the bathroom, where no pay was earned if less than 600 garments were made in a day, forced to pay bogus fees for non-existing health insurance and taxes, and checks are often delayed without warning for weeks at a time. And, when the workers complained, Hanes simply pulled out without paying any of the last month's wages (as a warning to all other "slaves" of America). When workers in American plants in South American countries go on strike, they have been beaten and forced back to work. Please, don't you HATE the West for YOUR values?
What about 23-year veteran Tucson Police Officer Charles Walter who was first in the news due to being arrested December 2004 for using a computer at work to send nude photos of himself (identifying himself as an officer) with suggestions of relations to a minor (the 16-year old girl he pursued that time turned out to be an undercover sting operation originating from an anonymous call, suggesting previous such advances)? Alas, Walter had NO difficulty in working the system (just like the LA cops) to get all criminal charges dropped (starting with having another officer violate his rights in order to invalidate his confession). After Walter was again caught and arrested over a year later, a "friendly" (blackmailed?) judge yet again dismissed all criminal charges. But, Walter's arrests should have been no real surprise since he had 2-3 Internal Affairs investigations each and every year (of which one each year ended up as a formal reprimand) including a 1999 suspension for previously using Police computers to send out... wait for it... yes, sexually explicit emails (evidently, the sex addiction counseling didn't take). Perhaps, you should be spending a bit more time considering your own inaction concerning your own nation's (and religion's) sins.
There are just as many Qur'an verses that support peace and Biblical verses (I've read both, have you?) that support hate and war (when similarly taken out of context). Moreover, don't forget seven out of eight of recent corrupt CEO convictions were Christians (the eighth being Jewish), without a single one being Islamic (as they're more ethical?). This book / movie (and those that support it) is just yet another American hate crime. I have to admit I couldn't make it all the way through before I had to stop in disgust. But (using the logic of others), few Christians ever speaking up against the above crimes must be proof Christ was a Hate Monger... He did say He came to bring war and not peace... right? And, war and hate has unfortunately been a very long standing Christian tradition.
For example, Bohemian Priest John Huss and many of his followers were burned alive for their beliefs - Wycliffe (the Bible translator) was fortunate enough to die before his burning. The religious wars resulting from Protestant and Catholic cross persecution (including the "30 Years War") devastated Western Europe (1560-1648)... a "peace loving" religion... where? I love how the playboy pope Leo X sold off church offices to the highest bidder. The archbishop of Mainz, having borrowed the money to buy his office, was then allowed to issue indulgences to recoup his expenses (so much for theological purity). A jingle of the time phrased the resulting Christian promise: "soon as the coin in the coffer rings, the soul from purgatory springs." Then, 200 years ago, a wave of dissatisfaction within the Church so great as to suggest the church itself was incapable of being saved ("The Great Apostasy") swept across the United States ("The Three Great Awakenings") leading to much novel and pedantic dogma (three of my favorites are the revival of pagan oracles or glossolalia, theophostic forcing of false memories, and gift classes that identify who has the gift of casserole making and who has the gift of back patting). Today, George Barna (most widely respected Christian statistician) has shown ideas about who Jesus is, what grace is and how it works, sin, forgiveness, faith, repentance, obedience, etc. already varies with every Christian. Therefore, it's hard to say what a Christian really believes in (if anything).
There is one thing, though, we know Christians believe. Wikipedia states, "Richard Nixon tapes declassified in 2002, record Billy Graham during a 1972 discussion agreeing with Nixon that Jews control the American media. 'This stranglehold has got to be broken or the country's going down the drain,' said Graham. Later, Billy Graham mentions he has friends in the media who are Jewish, including A.M. Rosenthal, saying they 'swarm around me and are friendly to me. They don't know how I really feel about what they're doing to this country.'" But then, Christians have long been anti-Semitic (long before the WWII story above). Even Martin Luther argued, for example, to severely repress the Jews including "burning down their synagogues, forcing them to work," and killing as many as required to "save" them. And today, each and every one of my dozen or so Jewish friends were beaten up as children by "peaceful" Christians for being "Christ killers." In comparison, a most sacred Islamic holiday is that of Ascension, when Mohammed's prayers on one particularly bad day were answered by being taken up to heaven where he met... wait for it... Abraham, Moses, and Jesus. Jesus being Mohamed's favorite prophet and the Jews being one of his favorite people. In fact, he commanded (no such command exists in the New Testament) good Muslims to forever protect all Jews (read the Qur'an or just Google how often Islamic leaders state this publicly).
Try removing the log from your own eye before you worry about the spec in others.
For some background... I am a fundamental Bible-thumping Christian who believes the Bible is the Word of the one true God. I must laugh, however, at my Jewish and Christian friends who say the Gods of their two religions have nothing in common. I personally believe Christianity (my religion) is just over 3% "better" than Judaism, this being the percentage of Old Testament prophesy that (I believe) were fulfilled by Christ. But, my personal experience is the average Jew is a far better Jew than the average Christian is a Christian - so, I consider the average Jew to be more of a Christian than the average Christian (and seemingly half of the Jews at my local Temple are ex-Christians with the same opinion). But, what of the Qur'an? Its primary source was the Bible (or Torah). Now, many argue Mohammed was illiterate and so could have never read the Bible - but my son "read" hundreds of books before he could read. The way Muslims pray, for example, was copied directly from the Jews (originally even facing Jerusalem). Just as all modern Christian denominations assume the Catholics and Protestants failed to accurately keep the true religion of Christ over 2,000 years necessitating new revelation, Mohammed felt the Jews had failed to accurately keep the religion of Moses. Yes, Islam is nothing but a modern attempt to be more Jewish. Even the Qur'an's artwork of Adam and Eve seems to be copied from my King James Bible. Now, they often "fix" Old Testament stories, but so do the Mormons and the Jehovah Witnesses and most people still consider them "Christian." So, I feel Muslims are about 90% Christian (again suggesting any Muslim who is more than 10% better at being a Muslim than a Christian is more of a Christian - sorry, if I offend any Muslims by this... ha ha). But, what about the other major religions of the world like Hinduism and Buddhism. Well, they were all fathered but by the Prophet Zoroaster whose followers are known in the Bible as the Magi (or "wise men"), making them also chosen children of the same God (OK, maybe as much as 75% Christian). Now wait, there certainly can't be anything in the Bible about the modern Wicca - right? Wrong! Their beliefs are copied right out of the Bible (now, I know I'm pissing someone off as Wiccans are taught just the opposite) with the most famous Wiccan document being the "Key of Solomon" written by, yes, the biblical son of David (making them perhaps as much as 60% Christian). So, to say any of the world's religions are inherently violent is to say the Bible is the source of such hate. Finally, I would also argue the Bible spawned the values (especially of rationality) of Atheistic scientism (making them as much 50% Christian as well). How about you people try focusing on what you have in common for a change - since there's more there than what you have in difference (y'all but some Biblical denomination)?
Now, there's an idea, to focus on what we have in common, instead of, for example, the ageless negotiating minuet of extreme anchoring starting positions (that tend to only lock participants into their positions but to save face) in preparation for a classical "lose-lose" compromise (or, what negotiators and family therapists call the "tyranny of the lowest common denominator"). If only there was a bit more empathy in the world. And, I mean Kohut's idea of empathy which simply suggests (for more cohesion) a slow investigative attempt to objectively "taste" another's experience (just a "near-experience" observation that should not to be confused with being kind). If we could also just change our perspective to see that most people's "issues" are really "injuries." And, work to make everyone less hurt instead of but the same (and not less angry, being just the result of the hurt). Supporting such diversity will, of course, require greater conflict resolution. But, the result (says social science) could be a geometric human growth greater than mankind has ever seen.
Process improvements generating exponential paradigm shifts cause informational singularities such as the Agricultural Revolution for the Hunter-Gatherer, then the Industrial Revolution, and finally last century's Information Revolution. But, what might come next? Many believe it will be a fifth wave revolution of relational sciences as a development basis for a "new" economy based on social capital (an inclusive marketing concept). Now, this is NOT about respecting all opinions. Critical thinking teaches a narrow-path to truth. But, it is about respecting all people. Most importantly, it's also about the skills to recognize the lies in this book / movie for what they are... hatred.
