DVD Review: Shining a light in dark places
Summary: 4 Stars

This was a very amatuer filming done very novice rich kids from California. That being said, they actually managed to put together a rather touching documentary. The film is about the civil war in Northern Uganda and follows the sad story of the "night commuters" in Uganda. The night commuters are children that live in fear of being kidnapped and forced into Joseph Kony's army, (he's kidnapped +50,000 children and forced them into armed service already) so they come from miles to flock to the relative safety of the city bus stations, hospitals and other public buildings. They also talk to a few kids who escaped from Kony's army and those scenes are probably the most heart-wrenching.
The DVD was interesting and touching and does make a valuble contribution on the topic of Uganda. They never do mention the fact that all of these problems roots began with Amin and Obote, so it really doesn't give you much regarding Uganda's history. Nevertheless, a worthy DVD to add to your collectino if you are interested in Uganda, Africa, child soldiers, sociology or you are jsut interested in human problems and stories.
