DVD Review: Now that's what I'm talkin' about!!

This dvd is lovely introduction to Polynesian dance and everything I hoped it would be. The dvd covers three aspects of Polynesian dance: the Ori Tahiti, the dynamic, fast Otea and the slow, expressive Aparima. Tumata explains every move in detail and Moena demonstrates them thoroughly. You will learn not only the basics but, also, the foot and arm movements that go with each move. Granted, there are no extended practice sessions on this dvd but it's easy enough to re-cue a section on the dvd to work on specifics movements.
Bear in mind that this is NOT a hula/polynesian fitness dvd like the ones by Kili. Her dvds are are absolutely great workouts but are not so good for anyone wishing to learn authentic Polynesian dance as the moves are combined with aerobic excerise movements. While Tumata's dvd is not a workout per se, you will certainly know you've been using your muscles.
Tumata's dvd is devoted solely to learning the fundamentals of Polynesian dance and it is a must have for anyone interested in this exquisite dance form. It also treats the dance with the reverence it so deserves. In a delightful special features segment, Tumata also takes us to Polynesia to see the birthplace of this dance form. It is a treat for the eye and a wonderful cultural learning experience.
The settings for this dvd are visually stunning and the music sublime. At over 70 minutes in length, you get a lot quality dance instruction for a very low price. Well done, Miles Copeland, well done!! Please, please give us a follow up!!!!
