DVD Reviews of Icons Of EvolutionDVD Review: Thought provoking documentary! Summary: 4 StarsThis DVD discusses the teachings of evolution theory by detailing the facts and findings without trying to force intelligent design down our throats, like other documentaries. Interesting findings are enumerated and discussed in a respectful way that stimulates the viewer's mind and gives us the freedom and space to decide what to believe.
Watch, think and if you like it just put it in your kids' way. It might unleash the free thinker inside our kids.
DVD Review: The movie - "must have" Summary: 5 StarsFor many people who studied the contradictory in Darwin's theory this movie may enrich facts.
For all who think that Darwin's theory is only explanation of life origins (like Richard Dawkins who consider only his own opinion) this DVD would be disturbing.
The movie is a good illustration of many spurious facts made in support of Darwin's theory of evolution like HAECKEL drawings [...]. Also the observation of finches at Gal?pagos Islands does not give a solid evidence to support the evolution theory because the size and shape of their beaks of this species changes back and forward adapting to environment. Again the Cambrian explosion is the rapid appearance of most major groups of complex animals around 530 million years ago, as evidenced by the fossil record. If some like soft body's organisms could be preserved then should be found the fossils of transitions of animal forms which is not in the fossil records.
It's a good film which does not represent a religions or Darwinist followers. It gives you a base for thinking and questioning of Darwin theory.
Movie about 50 min long, illustrated with graphic and animations. It has a little material which represented in "Darwin's Dilemma" DVD. Good sound and narrations. Also I'd recommend to watch a "Special features" which is good addition to film.
DVD Review: Good information and approach Summary: 5 StarsThis presentation was very helpful. It did not present religion vs evolution, but scientific doubts of the evolution theory. When the basic ideas behind evolution are challenged by science, it is seen as a very weak explanation with many flaws. I especially appreciated the "Bonus DVD features" which summarized the points. It is listed as "10 questions to ask your biology teacher." This DVD was one of the best I have seen.
DVD Review: The icons (i.e. inaccuracies) my biology classes never explained, but should have... Summary: 5 StarsSimilar to the book (Icons of Evolution: Science or Myth? Why Much of What We Teach About Evolution is Wrong), but shorter and less detailed, with beautiful computer generated animations, interviews with scientists, and more. The Haeckel's embryos discussion in itself is worth watching this video!
The video encourages investigation, thought, and scientific analysis of the theory of Darwinian (blind) evolution, and looks at few popular icons of evolution that are taught in public schools without any critical examination: Haeckel's Embryos, Darwin's Finches, 4-Winged Fruit Fly, and Bacterial Resistance to drugs. It also discusses the issue of homology and the Cambrian Explosion that is a puzzle for Darwinian Evolution. The video also deals with the issue of suppressing free inquiry in the scientific establishment and the intense intolerance towards professors who might even mention challenging the dogma of Darwinian Evolution. It is a shame, as in science we ought to follow the truth and the facts, no matter our own assumptions.
Besides the book with the same title, you may like to consider the following resources to further explore this topic: Unlocking The Mystery Of Life, Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed, The Design Revolution: Answering The Toughest Questions About Intelligent Design, Intelligent Design: William A. Dembski & Michael Ruse in Dialogue.
DVD Review: very educational Summary: 5 StarsThis is a very informative and eduational book. It is presented from a science perspective and have some very important information about problems with explainations in science.
Description of Icons Of EvolutionAre students learning the whole truth about Darwin's theory of evolution? According to a growing number of scientists, the suprising answer is no. They claim that many of the most famous "Icons of Evolution"-including Darwin's "Tree of Life," finches from the Galapagos Islands, and embryos that look remarkably similar-are based on outdated research and sloppy logic. They say students are being hurt by the failure to present both sides of an emerging scientific debate over Darwin's theory. Come explore this fascinating new conflict over evolution in the classroom-a conflict based on science, not religion. Learn about the controversy that engulfs one town when a teacher actually tries to tell students that some scientists disagree with Darwin. From the Galapagos Islands to China, Icons of Evolution will take you on a fast-paced, fascinating journey into one of the most contoversial issues in today's public arena.
