I actually posted this review in netflix too. If you do the advanced portion several times, you can really work up a sweat.
A Fabulous instuctional DVD with a wonderful instructor. She comes across sincere, patient, and amazingly talented. She has style AND technique not to mention timing. This video is broken down flawlessly for anyone who wants to learn to tap or get back into it. It's not too slow either. And if it's too fast, you just rewind and practice the steps before moving on. Whether you're just starting tap or have tap'd in the past this video is great. You not only learn the basic steps, but you also learn 3 useful routines that are well known, the Waltz Clog, Soft Shoe, and Time Steps (challenging). The Waltz Clog is perfect for the beginner and easy to grasp without getting frustrated. The Soft Shoe, though more challenging is fun and danced with charm. Time steps is a mental challenge, but a good goal to work toward. It's bound to be a great foundation for anyone who learns it. When I get frustrated with the Time Steps, I just go back and do a routine that's easier on the brain. Once my head clears, I come back to practice the time steps. Tap can be mentally straining for some, but if you learn to have fun, let go, and stop "thinking", you'll discover a whole new world of dance! I love it so much, I think I might buy my cousin a copy along with a pair of tap shoes as a gift. If you're too chicken to take a class or you don't have one near by, this is PERFECT! I paid $130 for 8 weeks of lessons and we aren't able to learn so much in 8 weeks. With this video, you can go at your own pace...no embarassment of slowing the class down or no boredom of waiting for others to catch on. And private lessons would cost a fortune! I have other dance videos, and no video compares. The navigation through the dvd is easy too. Just get it already!
