DVD Reviews of Horton Hears a Who (Widescreen and Full-Screen Single-Disc Edition)DVD Review: WONDERFUL MOVIE! Summary: 5 StarsThis is by far one of the best animations ever made. The colors vibrantly "jump out at you" and the cartoon is very entertaining. Horton the playful good-natured elephant protects the microsopic city of Who-ville in the jungle with amusing results. It teaches you that "a person is a person no matter how small." Don't miss this feel-good movie with many laughs for people of all ages.
DVD Review: they finally got a seuss movie right Summary: 5 StarsI love Dr Seuss, and was sorely disappointed by the previous featur film adaptations of his works The Grinch and The Cat in the Hat. I went into this movie with moderate expectations, and was greatly surprised at how true it stayed to the spirit of the original work. It was very funny, heartwarming, and had good values. I highly recommend it for families and Seuss fans.
DVD Review: Nice little family movie Summary: 3 StarsFun little kids movie that brought back memories of the original book, which I haven't read in 35 years. Nothing special about the movie, and it can't compare to the great Pixar films, but well enough done that I didn't turn it off.
DVD Review: Hilarious Way to Learn Summary: 5 StarsWhat can I say except this is thoroughly enjoyable. One of the best animated movies I've seen. First, Dr. Seuss is always entertaining anyway with his weird humor and creations and this is one of his best. Second, you get some of his best work at teaching truths and virtues with the two most noted: Just because you don't see something or you perceive it in a certain way does not take away what the truth could be (misperception, misjudgement) and prejudice (crazy elephants, small people). Third, you have a collection of comedy's finest talents (Jim Carrey, Steve Carell and Carol Burnett among others) doing their thing. This is more than just a kids movie. This is a classic. I thought the original was decent but this version had me laughing so hard I missed parts so I'll be watching this many times before I get tired of it if I even get tired of it. I don't think I will. An elephant may never forget but I do so let's watch it again.
DVD Review: horton hears a who Summary: 5 Starsi am pleased with the quality of the dvd. the price was very good.
Description of Horton Hears a Who (Widescreen and Full-Screen Single-Disc Edition)One of Dr. Seuss' most beloved stories roars to life as never before in this enormous animated adventure that proves "a person's a person no matter how small." A playful pachyderm named Horton becomes a reluctant hero when he discovers the microscopic city of Who-ville on a floating speck of dust and embarks on a hilarious adventure to save the town from the dangers of the jungle. Featuring a who's who of superstar voice talent, including Jim Carrey, Steve Carell and Carol Burnett, this heartwarming hit comedy delivers loads of laughs and tons of fun for the whole family! Dr. Seuss's classic 1954 book Horton Hears a Who has entertained generations of children and served as the inspiration for a 26-minute, 1970 television special Dr. Seuss's Horton Hears a Who and the 2000 Broadway musical Seussical: The Musical. This 2008, full-length animated movie features the voice talents of Jim Carrey as Horton, Steve Carrell as the Mayor of Whoville, Carol Burnett as the Kangaroo, and Jesse McCartney as JoJo and promises to delight a whole new generation of children and their parents and grandparents. The technological wonders of computer animation have allowed 20th Century Fox Animation to bring to life the wacky, colorful Whoville with its minute inhabitants and the lush Jungle of Nool with its host of distinctive animals and the result is a rich, fantastical world of wonder worthy of Dr. Seuss' own imagination. All the major plot elements of Dr. Seuss' book are present, with Horton hearing the faint cry for help from a tiny dust speck atop a small clover and doing his best to protect the inhabitants of that small civilization of Whoville despite the disbelief, disdain, and persecution of his fellow animals. The feel of Dr. Seuss' original rhyming prose is partially preserved in the sparse narration by Charles Osgood that's interspersed throughout the film's dialogue and the overarching themes of staying true to one's convictions and the celebration of the power of perseverance, imagination, and kindness come through loud and clear. Horton Hears a Who is a fun rendering of a classic Dr. Seuss story that's sure to entertain viewers of all ages. --Tami Horiuchi
