After watching the television with this Hellsing series makes the Hellsing story unfold even more. This Hellsing offers more sexual themes, crude humor, and of course more blood! It's a can't miss series!

This is such a great series, and Alucard is brilliant. I can't wait for volume 3. 1 & 2 were basically recaps of the TV series. 3 should get quite interesting.

DVD Review: Better than Ultimate Vol 1

While this vol is better than the previous Vol in this series, it again fails to capture the original animes atmosphere.

Like the first vol this one continues the fast paced retelling of events, again sacrificing character building and story for action and mindless violence.

In the original anime this was a devasting attack, but it was represented beyond just body count and violent death. Integra pain is cheapened in this version, not at all bringing about the feeling this had any effect on her. If anything the attack might as well not of happened for the all the lasting effects it had on Integra and Hellsing organization while she tries to act angry it is not conveyed well.

Again Seras is not the quality character she was in the first anime, and that damn silly switch in art style rears its ugly head with her, attempting to add some kind of comedy, which is unneeded and falls flat. For all the quality animation you see in this, the moments like these weaken the overall presentation. While its nice to see her show some of her vampire side, it is not as good as it could be, relying heavily on insane appearance and excessive violence but not really exploring it.

Alucard representation here is solid though still not as good as the original. He simply is not as scary a character in this anime. In the original, when he was being dark..he was dark. In this he is more mad than dark.

Walter has some nice moments in this addition, and the main bad guys are fairly well represented.

While I do believe this is an improvement over the first vol, I would still recommend watching the original over this.

The first volume was a great start for the Ultimate line, but this volume blows it out of the water for animation quality, voice acting, and overall badassery. A MUST BUY.

Description of Hellsing Ultimate, Vol. 2

An unusual new breed of vampires terrorizes England while increasing at an alarming rate, making it impossible to conceal their presence from the public for much longer. Furthermore, the attacks seem organized, which makes the situation even more ominous. While Sir Integra reports her findings to the members of the Round Table, the Hellsing mansion gets blitzed by an army of indestructible ghouls led by the Valentine brothers, a vicious and hedonistic duo who claim to have all the vampiric powers of Arucard and beyond. Indeed, the night has only just begun...

As the OVA sequel to Hellsing continues, the Valentine Brothers, Jan and Luke, lead a ghoul-army in a no-holds-barred assault on Sir Integra Hellsing's stronghold. Arucard, Seras and Walter the Butler defeat the invaders amid buckets of blood. Who or what ordered the assault remains a mystery, but the trail may lead back to the Third Reich. The three-part Ultimate OVA offers even less plot and more violence than the original program: the filmmakers seem intent on setting a record for gore in an anime series. Characters are dismembered, bodies torn apart, eyes gouged, and corpses devoured. It all adds up to a nonstop slaughter-athon that would make the cast of Wicked City blanche.
