DVD Review: Hart to Hart, season one Summary: 5 StarsI wasn't aware before I received this wonderful TV show's first season how watching Hart to Hart during childhood in the 1980s had affected my ideas of marriage. Jonathon (the male lead, played by Robert Wagner) was particularly fixed in my mind as the ideal husband. I realize that Jonathon's character is a fictional creation and quite literally 'too good to be real,' but even when I was only eleven years old when the show premiered in 1979, I was amazed at how much he clearly respected and loved his wife. There weren't many men at the time who were capable of being simultaneously gentle and studly, so my role models were rather sparse. At the same time, Jennifer (played by Stephanie Powers) had that special feel about her of a woman who enjoyed life, married life in particular. The two together make an engaging, intelligent, loving, and fun couple to watch. Each episode of the adventures of this wealthy crime solving duo is a treasure to watch again and again. Though only the first two seasons of Hart to Hart have been converted into DVDs at the writing of this review, buying them is completely worth it. Getting the first season of this TV show on DVD was one of the best gifts I received this year.

DVD Review: Poor writing and unrealistic storylines Summary: 2 StarsSorry to rain on the parade. Most of the episodes are just plain dumb, consisting of poor writing and dumb plots. If you want to watch a witty, sexy, and clever series like this (only much better), check out Remington Steele with Pierce Brosnan and Stephanie Zimbalist...much MUCH better. I don't like giving poor reviews but this is very deserving.
DVD Review: Very Happy Summary: 5 StarsI always order from Amazon.com, I do not have ANY complaints what so ever.
I receive confirmation, and the product arrives always earlier than expected. They are wonderful, better than any other item I order from any other company. Thank you.....
DVD Review: Excessive trash in an excessive era Summary: 1 StarsExcessive hair, make up, jewelry and shoulder pads for Mrs. Hart with excessive blue-black hair dye, pinkie rings and ascots for Mr. Hart. Throw in excessive surroundings, excessive histrionics and excessive amounts of hammy teleplays filled with excessive plot holes and you have one excessive series barrelling toward the excessive Era of Ronnie and Nancy.
After Mr. Hart's, oh excuse me, after Mr. Wagner's glorious and legendary movie star wife, Natalie Wood's fabulous camp cameo as a send up to movie glamour girls it was all down hill from then on season after boring season.
Description of Hart to Hart - The Complete First SeasonCreated by bestselling novelist Sidney Sheldon, HART TO HART: THE COMPLETE FIRST SEASON stars Robert Wagner and Stefanie Powers as Jonathan and Jennifer Hart, a fabulously rich couple who always seems to become entangled in an exotic blend of mystery, intrigue and adventure. Accompanied by their loyal servant Max (Lionel Sander), the smart and sexy twosome jet set around the world, where they solve cases ranging from espionage to murder, in 22 breezy episodes that mix excitement and danger with just a dash of romance. Created by Sidney Sheldon (I Dream of Jeannie), Hart to Hart was a Thin Man for the 1980s. Self-made millionaire Jonathan (Robert Wagner, It Takes a Thief) and part-time journalist Jennifer Hart (Stefanie Powers, The Girl from U.N.C.L.E.) even had their own Asta-like pooch, Freeway. Unlike Nick and Nora Charles, however, children weren't part of their globe trotting, crime solving plan. Fortunately, they had trusty butler/Bentley driver Max (Golden Globe winner Lionel Stander) to keep them company. Mr. And Mrs. H., as Max referred to them, were introduced by 1979's two-part pilot ("Hart to Hart"), which features Roddy McDowall and Stella Stevens as devious doctors and Wagner's future wife, Jill St. John (Diamonds are Forever), as a wealthy patient. Natalie Wood, his wife at the time, also has a cameo (under the name Natasha Gurdin). Other highlights of the first year include "Jonathan Hart, Jr.," in which a stranger (Dee Wallace-Stone, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial) claims Jonathan is her son's father, and "You Made Me Kill You," in which an obsessed Jonathan fan (Kathleen Lloyd, Magnum P.I.) plans to eliminate the competition--Jennifer Hart. Other notable guests include Markie Post (Night Court), Daniel J. Travanti (Hill Street Blues), Ren? Auberjonois (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine), Juliet Mills (Nanny and the Professor), and Eve Arden (Our Miss Brooks). Hart to Hart ran on ABC for five seasons and went on to inspire such popular detective dramas as Remington Steele and Moonlighting. After a move to NBC, it was followed by eight made-for-TV movies. Sadly, Stander passed away shortly after filming 1994's Secrets of the Hart. Three years later, Wagner gained a new generation of fans by spoofing the urbane manner that helped make Hart to Hart such a hit in the Austin Powers trilogy. --Kathleen C. Fennessy
