This is a great video. Unconditionally recommended. Full of great vintage footage of parks all over the country, interviews with people who were there and contemporary footage where appropriate. The focus is somewhat on wooden roller coasters, but the range of coverage is broad enough to satisfy anyone into vintage rides, theme parks, trolley parks, Americana, family fun, etc. There are extra features on the disc too, of other parks that are gone now, and a beautiful silent film done by a fan long ago. My only complaint was that it ended, and I had to push play again to go find my favorite parts. Best seventeen bucks you'll spend for a while.DVD Review: I love this dvd!

DVD Review: Great video shows nice history of amusement parks in the USA

Boy, whenever I'm feeling down or winter has got me snowed in, I can pop in this video and enjoy a smile. This is a wonderful 60 minute video that features early amusement park footage and many wonderful theme parks many of which are still in operation today. It's done in a narrative with scenes of rides (the main focus is on rollercoasters) and it visits such parks as Kennywood, Whalom Park of Massachusetts, Coney Island, Santa Land, Cedar Point and Lake Compounce in Bristol CT.
Very interesting stuff about the rollercoasters and some rides like the whip that are not really around anymore. I found myself remembering going to amusement parks as a child and this video really takes you back. For me as a kid, it was Rocky Point in Warwick, RI. Adults and kids will really like this video.
