DVD Reviews of Gorillaz - Phase Two - Slowboat to HadesDVD Review: boring... Summary: 3 Starsperfect for an addicted-til-death fan but got boring for me...i got this for christmas and i watched it for about 3 hours and then it's been at the bottom of my dresser door ever since...
DVD Review: Something different Summary: 3 StarsI think the best way to describe this is that it's something different. It's not quite a game and it's not quite a movie. If you are like me and remember the Gorillaz website when Demon Days launched, this is really the only way to get it back. If you missed the website then you really do not have an alternative. The only realy issue I had with this is that it is far too interactive. Esssentially, there is no "ply all" button. You have to browse the menue with all of the content or click through rooms. If you want an interactive ex[erience, this si great. If you just want to sit down and watch soemthing, it is a bit tedious. It comes with a second disk which apparently has games on it. I could not get the thin to work, possibly because I roll with Vista. So, that was kind of a bummer. It tells me to update via the Gorillaz website, but such an update does nto exits.
With all of this said, this is still a solid means of entertainment, if nothing more than exploring the fictional Kong Studios. The true Gorillaz fans should pick it up. If, however, you are not die hard inot them , I would suggest avoiding this. If you want something much more enthralling, check out Gorillaz: Rise of the Ogre, which is a story telling the fictional tale of Gorillaz. then, pick this up if you want to explore the website, which no longer exists, as described in the book.
DVD Review: Must have for fans of Gorillaz and Animation. Summary: 4 StarsVery happy with this DVD, but grew a little wary of Interface. Luckily there is a straight forward mode where you can just view the content without exploring.
The storyboard modes, visual content, and all the goodies you can find in this DVD makes it a must have for Gorillaz and Animation fans.
DVD Review: May be low, but i'm not high Summary: 3 StarsStill think it's worth it and 3 stars may be a bit low, but I wanted a little more music, less 'extras'. Not to bash it though, cuz the what..4 vid's that play in 5.1 in the beginning and are done in succession (don't have to hit play on every one), were certainly worth the amazon price.
And when I have kids that get into my collection doing stuff I've told 'em is bad for 'em, they might just spend the effort to drift around it and show me stuff I never saw.
DVD Review: Another great Gorillaz item. Summary: 5 StarsI bought this DVD for my boyfriend because Gorillaz is one of his favorite bands. The whole DVD is a kind of puzzle, which is not surprising because Gorillaz does that with most of their things. Not only did I receive the DVD [and the CD that I ordered with it] in record shipping time, it was also really fun to watch and figure out.
Description of Gorillaz - Phase Two - Slowboat to HadesGorillaz's second album "Demon Days" and its accompanying videos took the world and its websites by storm. "Slow Boat to Hades" rounds up these incredible documents for the first time and captures them in digital formaldehyde; from the award-winning videos and hi-tech performances to their inventive animated shorts, acceptance speeches and more. All of these delights - including new content - can be accessed through the interactive menu, a brand new 3D DVD reconstruction of Gorillaz' online hangout Kong Studios. Viewers can wander through this decaying palace of sin and watch the breathtaking live performances in the cinema, visit the band's bedrooms, tour the corridors and find games, original animatics, cameos from some of the Demon Days guests and off-color jokes galore. A bonus CD-ROM includes 16 fiendishly addictive games including Gorillaz.com favourites Animal Kwackers, Tiles of the Unexpected and Operation, a whole library of wallpapers and screensavers plus some hidden extras.
