DVD Review: Surprising in so many ways
Summary: 5 Stars
First off, the 5 star rating isn't because this is an epic masterpiece, or awe-inspiring/life-changing, or even a 'good' movie at all for that matter.
Instead, I give this film 5 stars because of what it is, how it got there, and the sheer gaul of what the makers of this film had and what they actually produced with this movie.
That said there is one thing to be aware of: whether it's just the copy I have or what, but it's not playable on any of my normal DVD players. Instead, I've copied the files to my computer where they seem to like being played with DivX. Again, don't know if it's just the DVD that I have or what, but that's how it works.
Now for the required warnings... this film has cheesey low-budget gore and gross violence, don't watch if you don't like that sort of thing. Next, it has really pretty explicit nudity. Like, wow, how did they manage to get away with showing that in a non-porn film nudity. It stretches even the soft-core genre limits a bit.
On that note, those scenes are probably 99% of the reason why I've rated this film 5 stars. As other reviewers mentioned, this film was done casting friends, girlfriends, neighbors, etc. So, when you're watching said 'really' explicit scenes, there's a definite authenticity to them... no actors, no body doubles, (and the... toys... are real too!) What you're watching on film really happened as far as what's being portrayed.
So, take the good with the bad, buy the film, yes it's extremely low budget, but it's sooo worth it!
