DVD Review: Really, really cheesy

If you're looking for a cheesy monster movie, this is the movie for you. However, if you were hoping for an epic beat-em-up, don't look for it here.
I tried to watch this in Japanese with english subtitles, but it turns out the subtitles are just "dubtitles", captions from the dub. They aren't synced well at all. I usually like to know what the original dialogues of foreign movies are, and that wasn't an option with this.
There were probably only 20 minutes at most of fighting, which was cheesy and had this bizarre upbeat music to go along with it. Godzilla hops around like a happy-go-lucky boxer during the fighting scenes and Mechagodzilla just stands there and shoots rainbows at everyone. He barely even moves at all during the movie. Shisa/See-saw/Ceasar looks like a giant puppy with a mange problem, and Anguirus pops in out of nowhere halfway through the movie only to have his jaw mercilessly torn off by Mechagodzilla.
The science in this movie is awful. The aliens come from a "black hole" galaxy, and made Mechagodzilla out of "space titanium". Because that makes sense.
The plot surrounding the humans is just plain confusing. The movie focuses on two separate groups of characters. The plots for both involve them being chased by mysterious men. This makes it very hard to keep track of who is who. Also, the scene transitions are jumpy and leave out key details. For example, when some of the humans get in a car, one of them says "Wait!" It then cuts to the car blowing up, making it seem like they died, but no. It turns out they tied a string to the ignition key, walked out of the car, and then pulled it. Silly me! I should have known!
I spent the whole movie eyeballing the time displayed on my dvd player wondering when the epic fight scene would start. As the movie reached within 10 minutes of completion, I lost all hope for a destructive final battle. In the end, Godzilla uses his "magnet powers" to draw Mechagodzilla to him, and he Mange-Puppy end up repeatedly kicking the "space titanium" creation while hokey music plays in the background. Fun stuff.
It's a good "bad" movie if you know what to expect ahead of time. Otherwise it's just stupid.
