DVD Review: Suprisingly Relevant

I thought this show would be kinda stupid just from reading the description, but it turned out to be pretty good. Some of it is so true; I went to my school's Video Game club for one meeting last semester, and I could totally relate to some of the stuff on the show, haha. I was in the mood for something different, and this definitely hit the spot. Anyone who is a geek (which you are, since you're buying anime in the first place :P) would probably enjoy this show.

I'm not sure what the other reviewers see in this show. I purchased it based on their reviews and it's now added to my stack of junk anime. I wasn't expecting Ouran funny, or Wallflower funny, but some form of comedy which if nothing else, would make me smile.

The dialog is off pretty badly in the dub, but really, that I can get past. What I can't get past is how dreadfully boring it is. Ok so it's 'Otaku' but so is Lucky Star, and that is 9000% more interesting than this bland show.

I've only watched the first 2 episodes, so if it gets better after that, I won't know but word to the wise those who write/draw etc. It is your duty to capture the attention and interest of your audience at LEAST by the second show - but really, that's the job of the 'pilot' episode.

All in all, it's about as interesting as watching a washing machine...honestly, dreadfully boring.

DVD Review: kinda like a documentary on otaku

I will admit, i only got about half way through the series because it was soooo boring. It has a few comedic moments, but most of the time, for me, it would be analogous to watching a PBS special on otaku. the only entertaining part was Saki always trying to drag Kousaka out of being an otaku. The characters are rather likable, but theyre all put in rather dull situations, making the whole experience rather dull itself. Of course, i only got through about half the series, so i wouldn't know if it does a complete turn around near the end. Looking at things other than the story... the animation was pretty good and so was the voice acting. If you have any qualms about quality, you shouldn't find too many problems here.

Would i recommend this if youre wanting a side-splitting comedy? no. Would i recommend this if you want a inside look at the otaku culture? sure. To me, thats all this show was: an animated documentary on otaku.

DVD Review: Amazing anime at an excellent price

I originally bought this DVD because I found the Kijubiki Unbalance manga at my local retailer and readin inside that it stemmed from Genshiken.

Genshiken is an anime that celebrates otaku/nerd culture and shows the anime partly through the eyes of someone who isn't originally part of the culture and from those who are and does it in a fashion that doesn't seem forced. I would strongly recommend this to any anime lover especially athe the low price. I know I've ordered the second season already.

First things first, this Anime is a GREAT. Its funny, got great characters and just screams OTAKU = WIN!

The dub is even worth watching, very few anime's get all the characters to sound like the audience want them to in English, but heck, they managed it with this. Especially Madarame...oh man...

The boxset is well worth the money, very cheap for a whole series. Also it has the Kujibiki Unbalance OVA's, and who can argue with that?! Nobody, thats who!

I Highly reccomend this product to anyone
