  • They were the most legendary and respected politicians, statesmen and warriors of history's first republic since the days of ancient Rome. They were also traitors and smugglers, rabble rousers and hot-heads, unfaithful husbands and prodigious drinkers. Because despite what some history books and much folklore would have us believe, our nation's revered Founding Fathers were, in fact, human

DVD Reviews of Founding Fathers

DVD Review: Haven't watched this but....
Summary: 1 Stars

after reading the reviews I think I'll pass. This sounds like a liberals dream DVD on the framers. One woman is talking about sexual exploits and there are mentions of drunkenness and Prozac and another is praising it to high heaven and talking about passing this crap on to her grandchildren. Sheesh, how abominably silly.

First of all, I have found that most of the stuff the History Channel puts out is biased towards big government and globalism in its implicit messages. Putting a negative spin on the framers and making them seem quite ordinary comes as no surprise to me. It's just another way to trash our Constitutional freedoms which is probably the overall intent. Instead of focusing on the remarkable aspects of the document that was worked out in intense heat without modern comforts by men balancing between State sovereignty and the need to strengthen specific aspects of a unified government (as reflected primarily in Article I, Section 8 of the document) the focus is on the "assumed to be true" flaws in our founders.

Is this really important? I mean really, who gives a flying you know what? Is it not more important to examine the results and the overall intent of those results which was a Federal government limited to specific powers while maintaining State and individual sovereignty and protecting the natural rights of all citizens? Instead, this seems to me to be an attempt to undermine those accomplishments by focusing on flaws that in the end, even if true which is questionable from my previous studies of the framers, actually have no direct impact on our lives at all.

This sounds like a crock of propaganda that has the Marxist oriented glowing and the more sober minded cringing. Who needs it? What understanding does it really advance? So the framers had flaws? Anybody that doesn't that you know? It doesn't do anything useful except to undermine our founding document by tainting the reputations of the framers which those who wish to convert us into a failing liberal state of centralized control relish. To hear of this nonsense being pushed in the classrooms tells me how imbecilic our educational system has become. Our children should be taught the value of the Constitution and Bill of Rights not the dirty laundry of our framers, if in fact, it were even true. Sounds like a waste of time and money and not worth a second look to me and should be renamed "Founding Trivial Nonsense for the Moronic Liberal and Closet Marxist".

Watch "A More Perfect Union: America Becomes A Nation - The Making of the U.S. Constitution" instead. It's not perfect but focuses more on the intent and the results, not the trivial character flaws of the framers.
