DVD Review: A worthwhile investment

I bought this product several months ago and have found it to be very useful. It was worth the $100 I paid for it, which currently averages about $5 per use and the average is going down. Although the physical exercises might seem unrelated to voice therapy, Ms. Garbo's point that changing the physical delivery of the spoken word in ways other than raising one's pitch is well taken. If you are only going to watch the DVD once you will not take much away, but if you keep at it consistently for a few months you, and others, will hear the difference in your elocution. If the goal is to pass as female, this is a useful tool. I hardly ever get read in person to person speech anymore, and my phone success is approaching 50%. The DVD was helpful in achieving that.DVD Review: Not Useful, do this on your own!

This is not a helpful product in anyway. Do not waste your money. All this is is 30 min of her talking to some guy that can't even do what she is asking him/her (not sure if the client is a transsexual, and I don't want to offend anyone). This will not help you, save the money for the more expensive parts of transition and just practice on your own. This was the biggest waste of money I have ever spent, please don't make the same mistake. Use the ones off of Deep Stealth if you want one that sort of works, but still my advice it to try and take care of this on your own. If that doesn't work, seek professional help at a therapist. Don't throw away your money on this product.

Don't expect passing T-Girls with perfect female voices instructing you how to achieve your vocal goal like in Andrea James and Calpernia Addams "Finding Your Female Voice". (I have the greatest respect for Andrea and Calpernia's Deep Stealth Productions).
Don't expect Melanie Anne's "Develop a Female Voice" showing her past self and voice and how she changed her voice to fit her true person. Again, I have the greatest respect for Melenie as a pioneer.
Norma Garbo has been working with the Trans community since the 1980's.
Her DVD like any lesson requires commitment and time. She does the best job of explaining the differences between the traditional Female and Male voice than any other DVD-Video I have mentioned. The warm up exersizes are the most exhaustive that I have tried, so your commitment is truly tested before you get to the "Lets practice girl talk" parts of the lessons.
I have failed to succeed using "Develop a Female Voice, and have had limited success with "Finding Your Female Voice" after 6 months of 1 hour practice 5 days a week.
I am cursed with a very low pitch voice even for male standards, and make test phone calls to catalog and sales companies only to get; "How can I help you Sir", so please consider the source of this review.
In all, I trust the foundation is on this DVD to change my voice. The production quality is the best that I have seen, and the explanations of how and why are very clear. I just hope that with commitment and time this DVD will help solve my dilemma using Norma Garbo's Technique. I will try and post an update on how the mid and long term results pan out.
