DVD Review: Something's Wrong With This Picture!
Summary: 5 Stars
First off, I want to say the only reason I gave this DVD a 1-star rating is because I have some serious concerns about the company that is releasing it. I'm wondering if it isn't possibly a bootleg print. The Mirage Tour of '82 featured Mick Fleetwood, Christine McVie, John McVie, Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham. Look at this album's photo. Buckingham is gone and in his place are Rick Vito and Billy Burnette, the two guitarists who REPLACED him when he quit the band in 1987 on the eve of the Shakin' The Cage tour (promoting Tango In The Night). This photo was shot 5 years AFTER the Mirage Tour.
Also, in the description section that lists the tracks, there are numerous misspellings (i.e. "Gipsy" instead of "Gypsy"; "Love in Sore" instead of "Love in Store"; "Sister of the Moon" instead of "Sisters of the Moon"). This is often indicative of shoddy bootleg work.
As for the Mirage '82 concert itself, I obtained a VHS print of this very concert when it was released back in the early '80s. It is indeed a terrific show and well worth seeing. The current DVD that I'm talking about here may well be legitimate and some knucklehead at the production facility may have simply screwed up and accidentally placed the wrong band photo on the cover, plus gotten sloppy and misspelled a number of song titles. If so, then I would give the show a "5". But until I know for sure that this isn't some sort of knockoff, I'll have to stick with a "1".
Insofar as the concert goes, Buckingham's incredible performance of "I'm So Afraid" is truly something to behold; Nicks's powerfully stunning delivery of "Rhiannon" still sends chills up my spine to this very day. If the buyer wants a spectacular show, this one has it all; however, please be aware that this particular DVD may not be up to par.
Thanks to Mr. Walsh's informative comment, I have just upgraded by review from a "1" to a "5." This apparently is no bootleg and has decent quality. The show itself was great--Fleetwood Mac at their butt-kicking best!
