DVD Review: A good thriller with some nice effects
Summary: 4 Stars
I have seen a number of comments on Amazon about both George Brent and Hedy Lamarr's poor acting. Both have been unfairly criticized and this movie is proof. Brent plays the curious and eventually smitten doctor and Lamarr the tormented and of course beautiful wife. Paul Lukas actually drives the film though as the half cruel/half brilliant husband. There are some story parts that move a little too fast and skip over some detail, but it is entertaining and keeps you involved. There also needs to be mention of the special effects which come early and late and are both spectacular for the time and jarring in the film. Definitely worth seeing to any fan of its stars.
