DVD Reviews of Eternal (2004)DVD Review: eternal Summary: 2 StarsThe movie wasn't bad, it was actually pretty good. The only problem for me was that for some reason the way the disk was formated made the movie very un-enjoyable to watch. The resolution was bad, and it frequently would pause during a scene, which happend through-out the whole movie.
DVD Review: Vampiric Lesbians, soft Pron, Kink, and...a story line Summary: 4 StarsUnlike some Vampire films, especially those focused upon Vampiric Lesbians, this movie actually has a story line. Everyone in the film has ulterior motives and their own psychological issues (worked out sexually).
Originally, I rented this movie, because it looked "iffy," but I decided to purchase the film after viewing it once. This is a dark movie, and the characters play out dark fantasies. Definitely not a Vampire flick for the kids to watch. In fact, I bought it mostly because of the lesbian erotica scenes and "adult" scenes.
I cannot give the movie five stars, but I had to own this movie rather than only renting it.
DVD Review: Lustful, yet artistic with clever use of mistery. Summary: 3 StarsI was searching some video about the actual countess Bathory. This was the closest I could find in Amazon. I may say it was not what I expected, but putting aside my search, this is what I found: A very lustful story, about a modern countess Bathory. Please don't relate the original with the movie, it won't work. Still, the movie is quite good. The story is very straightforward, though very clever points of mistery add some good ingredients for the movie. Lustful without becoming porn. Very artistic scenes on lesbianism, sado-masoquist relations, etc. The actress performing countess Bathory is a good excuse for the whole movie. Worth to see it.
DVD Review: Countess Blood is alive... Summary: 4 Starsand living in Montreal, Canada. Poor thing. She's over 400 years old but still looks good for an old broad. She drinks and bathes in the blood of hot, young chicks to keep herself beautiful. Weird, but fun movie.
DVD Review: Some great original scenes Summary: 3 StarsThis movie is a new take on vampirism. The beginning of the movie states it is based on fact. I'm sure those 'facts' are the legen behind the 'Countess Dracula' or Elizabeth Bathory. She supposed killed more than 500 females in order to bathe in their blood for eternal youth.
This movie gives us a plot in the present day where a detective tries to track down his wife who is missing after an encounter with the present day countess. It never divulges what happened to her except to infer that she is dead after her blood was drained by the countess.
My thoughts on this movie are: The plot is an original twist. The return of this countess seeking women's blood who 'want' her. The filming itself is superb, truly eye catching. The acting by the countess is very well done..... too over the top by the pursuant detective. In his more subtle moments he blends in with the story, but those moments are few. The sets are great. The story could have been a bit better.
There is very little tension here, which I found disappointing. It focused more on the lesbian/erotica point. Anne Rice did bring that subject to the forefront however she always maintained an air of mystery and tension with her stories. This one doesn't. I do believe that is what's missing here.
One more thing... the soundtrack is superb! There couldn't have been a more perfect background of music to enrich the story than what was chosen.
All in all... not bad.. but not great. Middle of the road twist on the vampire story.
Description of Eternal (2004)Detective Raymond Pope is a detective of questionable morals, searching for his missing wife. His investigation leads him to the wealthy estate of the enigmatic Elizabeth Kane and her young maid Irina. Under Elizabeth's fascinating looks and aristocratic manners hides a terrifying secret, shared by her companion Irina. Irina believes that her mistress is a supernatural being, perhaps the real-life 16th Century Blood Countess Elizabeth Bathory, who bathed in the blood of over 650 women in a misguided quest for eternal life. As Detective Pope finds himself perversely drawn to the powerful Elizabeth, bodies begin to surface, his inquiries only deepening the mystery surrounding Elizabeth's past. Pope's obsession grows so intense that he completely fails to anticipate Elizabeth's reaction to his intrusion into her dark world, a fatal mistake that might cost him his life and the lives of those close to him.
