The small town of River City, Iowa will never be the same when professional con-artist 'Professor' Harold Hill (Robert Preston) worms his way into the tight-knit community with promises of establishing a brass band. Along the way, he romances strait-laced librarian Marian Paroo (Shirley Jones).
