DVD Review: A great love story
Summary: 5 Stars
I loved this movie. It contained such a rich legacy of sacrifice, obedience, and love. Joseph Smith is portrayed as the visionary prophet, who followed the will of God with exactness. Emma was portrayed as his wife who found strength rather than inheriting strength. Emma was the elect lady, the found of the society of women, and made richer the culture of an unique people. Emma suffer loss: the death of numerous children, the loss of her husband to martyr and murder, and being ostracize by her father. Joseph promised her that the Lord who restore all thing and make the wrongs right. The are so many moving and beautiful scenes in this movie that I think it is a bright light among films in 2008. The climax of the movie occurs as Joseph is forced to depart too Carthage and his death. Prior to departure, Joseph promises Emma that her letter of wishes would be honored by the Lord. I love the songs, dances, and general day to day life of the prophet. The prophet was a very human person, he laughed, he cried, and he was angry. The dynamics remind of the life of Christ in that sense.
