A university student Jiang Lingyu joined the Shanghai performance team to publicize anti-Japanese spirit despite her family's resistance. She fell in love with the musician Gao Libin of the team. Their team gave performances in different places. Later the team arrived in Chongqing. Jiang Lingyu's cousin Zhou Jiarong made a fortune out of war in Chongqing.
