DVD Reviews of Eddie Izzard: We Know Where You Live - Live!DVD Review: Not as good as I expected Summary: 2 StarsI am aware that it was for charity and that it was not all eddie, but was not pleased with any of the comedians other than eddie and the one before him (i think). There was a guy that looked like a turtle that i thought was going to slip in his own sweat and shaking. There was also a group of guys that hurt my throat listening to them talk, at first I thought they were kidding but.... eh.. Its just- nobody was funny.. Overall, not worth paying $15 bucks for. $5 or $10 would have suited better.
By the way if you want to see "good" eddie izzard buy all his other dvds.
DVD Review: Want more Izzard, please... Summary: 2 StarsThis product is a bit misleading. I was really expecting to see a bit more of Eddie Izzard, but he makes only a few, very brief appearances during this charity event. Skip this one and go for one of his stand up discs.
DVD Review: Worth it just for the 4 Yorkshiremen sketch Summary: 5 StarsIf this wasn't for a very good cause, I might have been harsher, but there are good parts and it is for a good cause.
I don't understand why people are giving poor reviews because they didn't read the product description completely.
DVD Review: I knew it wasnt ALL Eddie... but hoped for a laugh, at least Summary: 2 StarsOK, this is for charity- and worth supporting for that reason- but these are also big-name comics, so I was expecting more laughs and less groans. The only reason I sat through the whole this is that I bought it. The parts which were good, in my opinion, were-
-The Izzard bits (though not his best)
-The 4 Yorkshiremen sketch
-some of the music, most notably Tom Jones
Unfortunately, that adds up to about 20 minutes. The rest of the DVD is painfully bad comedy and rather dull musical numbers. I am not British but I am a fan of British comedy and I don't have trouble with accents, generally. (Some reviewers seemed to think that was why this is getting panned). I could understand exactly what was being said, it just wasn't very funny. Parts were just plain embarrassing, such as the pathetic Morrissey impersonation. And it was so heavily and obviously edited that some comics got about 3 minutes. 3 minutes that did not flow very well. And THOSE were the funniest jokes? Made me wonder what was cut out. Shudder to think.
Not really worth the price, unfortunately. Get an Izzard solo DVD!
DVD Review: Love Eddie Izzard Summary: 1 StarsThis was a little disappointing; I didn't even watch the whole dvd to be honest. I had expected a dvd of Eddie Izzard solo and it may well be my fault for not reading the full description. I have his other dvd's and continue to enjoy them even though I have seen them over more than several times. I had been looking forward to adding another one to the collection, but it didn't turn out that way. It could be I just lack patience to try but Eddie I. just seemed to take the role of MC and he is way too talented not to have another solo dvd.
Description of Eddie Izzard: We Know Where You Live - Live! The live comedy event of the year! Starring Eddie Izzard, this non-stop, rapid-fire show features the U.K.'s finest comedy and music performers with a line-up that's second to none. Hysterical finale of the famous "4 Yorkshiremen" sketch features Izzard, Eddie Izzard--a strong candidate for the funniest human being alive--hosts an entertaining smorgasbord of musicians and stand-up comics at this benefit event celebrating Amnesty International's 40th anniversary. Some of the humor trades heavily on British references and the comedians are largely unknown in the U.S., but that doesn't keep them from being very funny. Musicians include U2, Badly Drawn Boy, and Tom Jones, who all deliver stirring performances. Political references are surprisingly few, but there are some pointed bits--Jeremy Hardy sardonically notes: "Why would the police bother to arrest innocent people? Because they are easier to catch." Not only does Izzard (Glorious, Dress to Kill) sprinkle a variety of short routines throughout the show, another comic will delight Izzard fans with his spot-on imitation of how Izzard would play the young Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars. --Bret Fetzer
