A guy with tattoos is a wimp next to a guy with lipstick. I seem to be a sucker for comics who cross dress, and it's not just a sense of absurdity over the displacement of cultural expectations or whatever. There's something both disarming and yet satisfyingly rebellious about the presentation--as if we're invited to collude in a secret gathering.
But, still, leave gimmick at the door. Izzard takes to comedy like a snake charmer, and it can be easy at times to get lost in the monologue and just as mesmerized. As any courteous snake charmer should do, however, Izzard takes care to poke you occasionally to make sure you haven't nodded off. And, when he finally pulls the threads together into one woven piece, and the comedy 'strikes,' so to speak, you'll be glad you were paying attention. Oh, yeah, and the material's top notch, too.
While he's gotten even more skillful and polished over time, this performance is still not to be missed. The self-propelled eye on craft and clawing up the industry is to be respected, while whatever he hasn't mastered showmanship-wise just makes him seem more approachable. It's probably the lipstick.

I have seen this DVD before and laughed myself silly. That is why I decided to purchase this DVD so I could have my own copy to enjoy. However, I am unable to view it since it is not viewable with my DVD player.
