DVD Reviews of Dust 008Rob BellDVD Review: If you only buy 1 Nooma video, this is the ONE! Summary: 5 StarsI love this Nooma Video the best. I own them all and watch them lots with my kid. Rob Bell is the coolest! Oh yeah, and he actually knows his Bible stuff and is very well spoken. My second favorite thing from Rob Bell is "Everything is Spiritual". Wonderful DVD and very insightful. My third recommendation Nooma is Breathe or Kickball is fun for kids.
DVD Review: Deeply Touching Summary: 5 StarsRob Bell brings to light the Jewish custom regarding the process of being chosen for the Levitical priesthood and applies it in a fresh, exciting and truly relevant way to both the disciples chosen by Jesus Christ and also to today's Christ follower! His lessons are concise, succinctly spoken and aptly portrayed in today's ever-moving film style. A big lesson and refreshment from a perfectly short film.
DVD Review: From the pit straight to DVD Summary: 1 Stars As with most of the Emergent Church's Postmodern philosophy I find this DVD to be very dangerous and harmful to the Word of God and to the true Church of Christ. Rob Bell's ignorance and worldly thought shines brightly from the beginning to end. He is nothing but a wolf in sheep's clothing leading people down a path of destruction. He uses smooth words with enthusiasm and a conclusion that is secularly "good" even though the path he takes to get there is false and contradicting to God's own words. Here are a few of the many points that arise in this short video. Some are important and others are just a sign that Rob is clueless. May God have mercy on him and show Ron the true path to Jesus Christ.
1. Jesus was a carpenter not a Rabbi when he called Peter and Andrew so Ron's reasons for them to follow Jesus were incorrect.
2. Old Testament Rabbi's taught God's Word, not interpreted it (such as the emergent church does) although the Rabbi's that were out for themselves obviously interpreted it for their own gain.
3. Rabbi's were not always revered. Many times they were hated by the common man, reigning over them with an iron fist and man-made rules.
4. Jesus never said "Follow Me and you can be like Me", in principle or otherwise. He said "Follow me". He is God and we will never be like a god.
5. Peter had not yet devoted his whole life to following Jesus at the time of the boat. It took the resurrection for him to become a devoted follower.
6. The main point and flaw in Ron's sermon was that Peter lost faith in himself, that's why he sank in the water. It's obvious he lost faith in Jesus and took his eyes off Him. Since when are we supposed to have faith in ourselves?
7. Nowhere does it say Jesus has faith in us. God chose us but that does not mean He has faith in us. Rob never mentions we are to have faith in Him. If God had faith in us he wouldn't of sent His Son to die a horrible death for our sins, He would have just let us find our own way of salvation instead of making one for us.
8. Rob doesn't mention a thing about Jesus' command to share the Gospel with a fallen world. He thinks being a disciple is doing small works to make people happy and make this world nicer. Not only is that unscriptual it's self serving and only draws attention to ourselves instead of to Christ.
Don't be fooled by well-spoken words and fancy camera moves. This new movement to destroy the church and humanize God is nothing but a fancy "nice" trick by Satan to lead as many to hell as possible. Read the theology of Rob Bell's Mars Hill Church and see for yourself how unscriptural it really is.
Study the Bible for yourself and believe what it says!
Proverbs 14:12 There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.
0 Stars would have been given if allowed.
1 Star = I've been robbed!
2 Stars = Why'd I finish it?
3 Stars = Good
4 Stars = Excellent
5 Stars = Life changing
DVD Review: Simply The Best Summary: 5 StarsAs a guy who spent an entire semester of Bible College disecting the ideas behind discipleship, I have to say that Rob Bell provides a clearer picture of true biblical discipleship than I gained in an entire semester (I got an A in the class, which was no small feat). Bell's teaching shows that true discipleship does not lie in reading a bunch of Christian "self-help" books or carrying the spiritual discipline of a monk, but rather in ordinary men and women discovering the Jesus of the Scriptures and attempting to be like Him. Yes we still see Jesus as our Savior and the Rescuer of our souls, but starting to see Him as Rabbi, as Teacher, changed everything for me. Highly recommended.
DVD Review: Excellent dvd Summary: 5 StarsThis is my favorite nooma dvd so far (I've watched the first 8). This is what I look for from Rob Bell, an intelligent message rich with cultural information from that time which gives me insight into some biblical story that I didn't have before. He explains the role of a rabbi in 1st century Israel and uses this info to shed new light on the actions of Jesus' disciples. A video that has life changing possibility - I highly recommend this one! Like # 7, Luggage, this has a surprise ending but in this case it's a much pleasanter surprise.
Description of Dust 008Rob BellSynopsis: Nooma is a revolutionary product that is changing the way people experience spirituality a series of short films on DVD with a 32 page discussion guide. It's not a book or a cassette tape. And it's not a CD or a two-hour movie. It's a new format called NOOMA? short films, between 10 and 14 minutes long, about God and our lives. Since its limited online release in November 2002, NOOMA has impacted millions of people. Because of this initial success and great potential, Zondervan has partnered with NOOMA to bring these films to the world. NOOMAs are appropriate for personal and small group settings, congregational meetings, and much more. Like parables, they use the experiences of our lives to teach about the fullness of life through Jesus, tackling issues like forgiveness, discipleship, and unconditional love. The study materials accompanying each NOOMA encourage meaningful discussion with relevant questions and biblical references. Rob Bell, a leading pastor and breakthrough communicator in the Christian community, is featured in the first series of NOOMAs.
Description: Dust - 008 Believing in God is important, but what about God believing in us? Believing that we can actually be the kind of people we were meant to be. People of love, compassion, peace, forgiveness, and hope. People who try to do the right thing all of the time. It's easy for us to sometimes get down on ourselves. To feel "not good enough" or feel like we don't have what it takes. But maybe if we had more insight into the culture that Jesus grew up in and some of the radical things He did, we'd understand the faith that God has in all of us.
