DVD Review: a (slightly modified) classic for the next generation

I am glad to see that Disney has released a few of the classic Sing Along Songs on DVD. I remember this one and others from my childhood. My nephew loves to watch it when he comes over to visit me, especially when it's close to Christmas.
There have been some changes to this DVD. They removed the introductory song that was sung by Jiminy Cricket. There are also several new songs, increasing the length of the DVD. These new songs have footage from more recent Disney releases, which should appeal to children who may not have seen some of the older Disney films. Disney also changed the transition between songs. Instead of having the 'turning page' there are scenes of a miniature Christmas village and a narrator.
It is nice that they added new songs, with the newer animation, although it seems like some of these songs are shorter than the original ones. The narrator, as other reviews have mentioned, is a bit creepy. Instead of using that between the songs, I do wish Disney had stuck with the 'turning page' transition from the old VHS edition. It doesn't seem like they messed with the songs from the old VHS edition. I did not notice a difference in the 'March of the Wooden Soldiers' like one reviewer had mentioned. And while the clothing and costumes are dated, it was great to see the live action scenes in 'Here Comes Santa Claus.' I remember seeing that Christmas parade at Disneyland with my sister when we were little.
