DVD Reviews of Die Hard (Collector's Edition)DVD Review: " I am going to count to three. There will not be a four." Summary: 5 StarsI loved this movie when I first saw it in 1988, and I still love it today. I watch it every Christmas - which may say something about me. I don't already have to say to the legions of Die-Hard fans just how good this movie is, so I will comment on the DVD.
This is the best DVD, and hint, hint, if you look at the special features, you will see there is a longer version of the movie! Granted its only 5 minutes and because the footage was never used, it does not have the "finished" look of the rest of the film, but its a great few minutes none the less - especially if you like Alan Rickman.
I am hoping for a 20th anniversary edition, but hey, I shall enjoy this one immensely for many Christmases to come!
DVD Review: Action-packed thrill ride Summary: 5 StarsEvery so often,a film comes along that resets the standard for it's genre.Die Hard did just that very thing for action films. Any film that inspires copycats and wannabes really does it's job well.Bruce Willis made a very successful transition from the small screen to the big screen as the everyday Joe forced into being the hero. This film has all the necessary ingredients to qualify it as a great action film. All you have to do is see it for yourself. Particularly well done is the performance of Alan Rickman as the chief villain, Hans Gruber. You can come up with good arguments for many action films as to which is the best all time, and this one is no exception.Well done.
DVD Review: Best Action Movie EVER! Summary: 5 StarsBest Action Movie EVER! Bruce Willis killing terrorists and the guy who played Carl Winslow on Family Matters? How could it be bad?
DVD Review: WE Will Never Forget!! Summary: 2 StarsI am so horrified by this movie that I cannot watch it! I saw it when I was a kid and liked it. But looking at it now, it makes me so upset!
Just look at the cover! Doesn't it look like the World Trade Center just after the planes smashed into them? Yeah, I know it's just 1 building, but the angle of the building is just creepy!! Okay, the movie was good; lots of blood and swear words, but I just can't get the images of the Twin Towers falling down like a building collapsing with explosives!! They should have a warning on the cover, saying something like:
THIS IS NOT THE WORLD TRADE CENTER ON FIRE! THIS IS ONLY A MOVIE!
I would like the movie more if they changed the box. But as it is, I can't watch it!!
DVD Review: Still enjoyable after all these years Summary: 4 StarsThe movie itself still rocks. The Blu-Ray edition only has a lot of different commentaries for extras - no bloopers and deleted scenes, but it's still worth the money.
Description of Die Hard (Collector's Edition)Bruce Willi stars as New York City Detective John McClane, newly arrived in Los Angeles to spend the Christmas holiday with his estranged wife (Bonnie Bedelia). But as Mclane waits for his wife's office party to break up, terrorist take control of the building. While the terrorist leader, Hans gruber (Alexander Godunov) round up hostages, McClane slips away unnoticed. Armed with only a service revolver and his cunning, McClane launches his own one-man war. A crackling thriller from beginning to end, Die Hard explodes with heart-stopping suspense. This seminal 1988 thriller made Bruce Willis a star and established a new template for action stories: "Terrorists take over a (blank), and a lone hero, unknown to the villains, is trapped with them." In Die Hard, those bad guys, led by the velvet-voiced Alan Rickman, assume control of a Los Angeles high-rise with Willis's visiting New York cop inside. The attraction of the film has as much to do with the sight of a barefoot mortal running around the guts of a modern office tower as it has to do with the plentiful fight sequences and the bond the hero establishes with an LA beat cop. Bonnie Bedelia plays Willis's wife, Hart Bochner is good as a brash hostage who tries negotiating his way to freedom, Alexander Godunov makes for a believable killer with lethal feet, and William Atherton is slimy as a busybody reporter. Exceptionally well directed by John McTiernan. --Tom Keogh This seminal 1988 thriller made Bruce Willis a star and established a new template for action stories: "Terrorists take over a (blank), and a lone hero, unknown to the villains, is trapped with them."
