DVD Review: Great video for little girls
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought this for my 3 year old daughter and she loves it. It offers tap, ballet, and jazz. It has simple easy moves that she can do in the living room. We don't have a ballet bar so she holds onto the coffee table and it works just fine. It's perfect for the beginer who isn't quite ready for classes.

DVD Review: A bit too fast for beginners?

My sister-in-law, a high schooler who has taken a few years of dance classes at a local dance studio, noted that the instructor in this video seems to move a bit too quickly for beginning dancers. My 4-year-old daughter does enjoy the video and tries to follow along, but she definitely is having a hard time picking up most of the moves. It's a hard balance to strike, though, because you want to go slow enough for beginners, yet you also want it to be advanced enough that there's the opportunity for the person who owns the DVD to grow as s/he repeatedly practices with it. So all in all, I'd say it's a well-done video, but buyers need to be aware of what may possibly be too steep of a learning curve.

DVD Review: Very Satisfied Customer !

I am amazed that anyone gave this instructional DVD anything less than 5 stars. It teaches them so much for the amount of money I spent. I purchased 2 of these DVDs for my 4 granddaughters, aged 2,4,5, and 7. I also bought them each complete ballet outfits. Their reactions were as follows. The 7 year old liked the ballet part the best, and was very interested, the 5 year old is a little shy, and did'nt have much of a reaction at first, but with some encouragement from her parents and sister, Im sure she will participate. My other 2 granddaughters loved it and immediately tried to learn all of the moves, and have wanted their parents to put the DVD in repeatedly ever since they got it. My advice: Buy this DVD, get yourself and your kids off the couch, and spend time together encouraging them to learn how to dance and have fun. But dont waste your money if all you are trying to do is plug them into the TV to get them out of your way for awhile, because there are thousands of movies out there that can do that better than this video. Just remember how important excersize is for a healthy body! In closing, my personal favorite is the jazz section, which includes 4 adorable dance routines that they learn step by step. Awesome job Miss Rosemary! I hope there will be more in the future. Thanks! Happy Grandma

DVD Review: Great intro to dancing!

I recently purchased this for my daughters, ages six and a half and two and a half. My oldest loves it. We've done it together a couple of times and she has done it on her own a couple of times. My youngest likes to twirl around and imitate her sister, so it even holds her interest for a few minutes. If you're looking for a substitute for dance lessons, this won't fit the bill. However, if you are looking for a great intro to different styles of dance, this video is fantastic. There are two routines for each style of dance, demonstrated in short teaching segments. The teacher first demos the moves by herself--very clearly--and then you see the class perform that segment, eventually putting in all together. The teacher is nice and the girls in the video are cute as can be--I would guess around the age of my daughter. The dances are challenging enough for a new dancer to need some practise before they have the routines down, but not so overwhelming that they give up. Doing the different dances has helped my daughter decide which kind of dance lessons she'd like to take. It's also a great way to sneak in a little exercise for my daughters when the weather's bad. I'd highly recommend it!

This unique DVD is a fun-filled introduction to the world of dance for kids! Specially designed for ages 4 through 6, children will learn the basics of ballet, tap, and jazz. The dances are demonstrated and explained step-by-step followed by a performance, so it's easy to dance along. The delightful music will help children remember and execute the dances. Includes three full programs: Baby Ballet, Tot Tap, and Junior Jazz.

Budding ballerinas ages 4 to 6 receive a thorough introduction to ballet at the tutelage of "Miss Rosemary" Boross in Baby Ballet. The program features Rosemary Boross, a student helper, and a small class of preschool age dancers as they explore the basics of warming up at the barre, stretching, center work, dancing across the floor, and rev?r?nce. Miss Rosemary first describes and demonstrates steps like pli?, tendu, sut?, chass?, and grande jet?, then leads her class through each step to the accompaniment of original piano music by Bruce Stephen Foster. Because the program covers a large variety of steps and progresses fairly quickly, it is most effective when used in conjunction with enrollment in an introductory ballet class. Alternately, young dancers may want to view the video in short segments, then follow with ample practice time to ensure the correct execution of each individual step.

In Tot Tap, Miss Rosemary Boross presents an authentic first-year tap class specifically geared toward children ages 4 to 6. Miss Rosemary covers a variety of basic tap steps like shuffle, dig, heel drops, toe taps, heel taps, and cramp rolls. She carefully details and demonstrates each tap step, then incorporates the steps into simple dances rehearsed by preschool-age, beginning tap students and accompanied by original, rhythmic music by Bruce Stephen Foster. This informative, 30-minute video can be used alone or in conjunction with enrollment in a beginning tap class.

Junior Jazz is an introductory jazz dance lesson aimed specifically at children ages 4 to 6. Teacher Rosemary Boross covers four styles of dance within this "jazz" presentation: hip hop, musical theatre, rock, and swing. After demonstrating and explaining the individual steps within a combination, Miss Rosemary invites young viewers to dance along with her, two young adult helpers, and a small class of preschool children.
