Some of the reviews for this made me think that people are so conditioned to accept only generic and watered down versions of things that they can't recognize something genius when it's right in front of them. This DVD is completely original and fun. It demonstrates that something can be in the yoga spirit and not all serious and somber. This workout starts with a 30 min. chakra set which is straight Kundalini Yoga and then it has various movement segments such as Tribal Dance, Dance of Power, etc. which are really amazing, a great workout, and very effective. I find Ana so inspiring to watch. She is in great shape from just doing her dance and yoga and raw foods all of which I have started as well. She has a yoga body to aspire to and my body has definitley shaped up since doing Dance the Chakras as well as all their other awesome workouts! The moves are all "instructed" but also have a freeform feel that lets you bring out your own spontaneity. You will sweat but the routine is so "feel good" and fun that even though its a workout I want to do it again and again. The moves are easy to follow and because it works on the body organically it never feels like a dull aerobics or dance routine. It feels so wonderful on my hips!!!!The music and instruction is awesome and inspiring, especially for doing this type of dance. I haven't even gotten to talking about the yoga set which is one of the best I have found on any yoga dvd anywere. A complete yoga practice in under 25 minutes!
Ana & Ravi have made sweating fun!!!!
DVD Review: Were they trying to be flower children in the 60's?

Based on YogaGirl's review, I bought this DVD. I've agreed with her reviews before, so took a chance. I'd resisted buying this DVD for a long time because I wondered why Ana had to do yoga videos in her underwear. And yep: the entire DVD is Ana Brett in different cutsie underwear ensembles. And the "flower power" yoga "mat" or should I say shag rug was ridiculous.
If you have any lower back or shoulder issues, this DVD is NOT for you. There is much flailing around of the arms, neck and shoulders and the fast, repetitive, seated forward bends in the yoga section could tear something if you don't already have the flexibility and the core to do this.
I didn't like the white on white background.
I didn't think the dance instruction was detailed enough and there was no prep for it. You are just thrown into it without really knowing what you are doing.
I was totally uninspired by the voice overs
To give perspective, I'm a Shiva Rea devotee. I love just about all of her DVDs and own all of her audio books. For dance, I love love love Chantal Pierrot's Soul Sweat which is a booty-kicking, ecstatic dance workout that actually has a 20+ minute tutorial so you can learn the moves before you are thrust into the dance class. I also love Shiva's dance sequences on Trance Dance for more free-form dancing.
I am somewhat of a believer in "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything," but I was so disappointed in this DVD that I felt that this review was a necessary act on my part.

This is an amazing workout. The first part is your traditional Kundalini workout than you get to the dance section. The dance section is not only fun but a great cardio workout. You just need to relax and enjoy yourself throughout the dance portion. All I can say is "WOW" DVD Review: This is a workout!

Oh my goodness! Bring a towel when you do this one. It's quite active and it feels like a cleanse! You get all the ickies out and you feel rejuvenated and are smiling at the end.

Dance the Chakras Yoga Workout features two 30 min. sessions. starting with a complete 30 minute Kundalini Yoga routine, invigorating, dynamic, and profoundly effective, just like Ana & Ravi's other workouts. The 2nd set is not your usual "Trance" fare, but an energetic, pulsating, sequence of mostly lead movement routines. This section is pretty aerobic and somewhat intense. Although the moves seem simple, those who don't have a dance or aerobic, etc., background can easily participate. (This DVD allows the user to pre-program their own workout.) Dance 1 is Tribal Dance. The others feature Funky Temple Dance, Dance of Power, and Heart Dance. The last two segments can only be described as blissful. Tom Carden's music on this one is hands down the best music on a yoga DVD. Like all their recent offerings, Ana & Ravi have broken away from the yoga pack with this exciting, innovative DVD.Educational DVDs
