If you grew up in San Angelo, TX and found going to Lowake Steak House a real treat, then you will especially enjoy this hilarious Texas comedy. I laughed until my sides were hurting and tears were streaming down my face.

I first watched this movie not long after it hit the Blockbuster shelves. About two decades later I have seen it so many times I can resite lines and sing all the songs. This movie is so true to form. I have a southern family and needless to say I see quite a bit of my own kin in these characters. This movie is a classic and should be enjoyed by all who can see the true colors of their relatives and love them despite it all.

This movie is hilarious!!! If you're from a small Texas town, know someone from a small Texas town, or have ever driven THROUGH a small Texas town, you will absolutely love this movie. I recognize most of my family members in the cast; the grandmother is mine, right down to the no-cussin', no-drinkin', no-nothin' cause God will get you for it attitude. Buy this movie, you will NOT regret it.

I just happened to catch this movie on cable some years ago & found entertaining from beginning to end. It has a first rate cast including TESS HARPER, BEAU BRIDGES, JUDGE REINHOLD & BEVERLY D'ANGELO. I happened to find it while browsing through the AMAZON movies & didn't hesitate to buy it. It is one of those films that proves nobody can hurt you like your family but also when the chips are down nobody will come through for you like your family. Great little movie!!!

They wanted Daddy's love?...but they'll settle for his dough! A "terrific cast" (Leonard Maltin) ?- including Beau Bridges, Beverly D'Angelo, Tess Harper and Judge Reinhold ?- star in this wickedly funny comedy of heirs about a Texas family who gather to mourn ?- and perhaps to mine ?- the memory of their dear ole dad.
