DVD Review: A Classic Step Aerobics & Toning Workout for all levels

This is among the earliest, as well as one of the best step aerobics videos I've done - and it definitely has a much-loved everything early 90s nostalgia about it. I even like what I would call the accompanying "new age techno" music, the leotards, and one of the male background exercisers who amuses me with his wannabe-a-jock persona yet sounds like a teenage boy when he talks. I just love it period!
As an aerobic workout it certainly delivers a good sweat with its mostly athletic-based moves and combinations - and it is appropriate for the beginner-to-advanced stepper with it's divided three segments (you can do the first, first and second, or all three in a row). Kathy's cuing is right on the mark and I found the routine fairly simple to learn yet not too repetitious. The movements are fluid and build upon each other nicely, and include an appropriate warm-up and cool-down.
The toning segments that follow require light dumbbells (1-5 pounds and the step bench, but you can choose to go heavier if you're able) and it provides a simple and effective total-body toning workout.
This workout is very similar to Karen Voight's "Energy Spirit" which is another classic that came out at around the same time (although I prefer this one). This video remains one of Kathy's best!
