DVD Review: An angel's voice

All the way by Celine Dion
February 2009 brought an angels' voice down to the American Airlines Arena in Miami and we took Nadya Ariano to enjoy Celine Dion, one of her favorite artists for her 17th birthday.

Celine Dion told us it had been a long time since she visited Miami, but we had seen her when she came to Sunrise, Florida for we will not miss the opportunity to see this powerful star perform.

The opening act was awesome, for Celine Dion introduced to the Miami audience a friend she made back in Vegas by the name of Gordy Brown, [...] who imitates artists of all walks of life and we were captured by the amazing ability of this young man to sound like the likes of Neil Diamond, Elvis Presley and Tom Jones. The audience applauded and laughing so much that when it came time for him to leave the stage, we had to remind ourselves that the best was yet to come.

And there she was, Celine Dion in rare form, for she is now very athletic in her performance and you can see the influence the years performing in Vegas has had on one of our favorite singers.
Plus, Gloria and Emilio Estefan were there to support her and it was great to see them and her mother was introduced to the audience, as she was traveling at the tender age of 82... to help Celine Dion during her tour! God bless her!!! Celine briefly explained to the audience how she was born to a poor family, the youngest of 14th children. Her parents are Adhemar Dion and Therese Tanguay, both French Canadian. She praised her mother for sacrificing much to see her 14 children mature and how she now lives close to her mother, feeding the ducks in early morning walks she takes with her mom.

So, when we bought All the Way, a Decade of Songs we simply wanted to complete the collection we own of Dion's recordings. The track lists some of our favorites:

I am your angel is a duet performance with R. Kelly and All the Way offers a duet with Frank Sinatra that is simply awesome. During her concert, there is a background where we see Sinatra and Celine sings right along the star. Well, if you like Celine Dion as much as we do, do not miss this enchanting CD.

This DVD has excellent sound quality. The picture is appealing. It also has English subtitles. That's what I like the most. It's because it enables me to sing along.

I love 2 songs in this DVD. They are "Power of Love" and "It's all coming back to me now".

It's definitely worth buying. I own it.

This DVD wasn't any good...it wouldn't play in any of my DVD players or in a CD player so I could just listen to the music. I haven't een gotten to watch or listen to any of it and had to just buy the CD from another seller so that I would be able to listen to the songs on a CD player.

She's beautiful, talented, and--corny as it sounds--seems really nice. This 90-minute compilation features 12 videos and five live songs illustrating the French-Canadian singer's transformation from a perky teen to a sophisticated international star. In the early '90s, Dion sang boppy tunes such as "Mislead" and "Love Can Move Mountains." The mid-decade Dion (decidedly sexier) is represented by "Because You Loved Me," "The Power of Love," and "It's All Coming Back to Me Now." Her soaring voice is powerful and poignant, reminding us why Titanic's "My Heart Will Go On" became such a huge hit. The compilation is ballad-heavy, but her last video of the decade, "That's the Way It Is," marks a welcome return to her earlier, sassier manner. --Dana Van Nest
