DVD Reviews of Casablanca

DVD Review: Magical!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is my favorite movie of all time. I call it magical because for some reason it makes you feel so good when you watch it. I judge a movie by how many times you watch it and I have seen Casablanca in its entirety more than 2 dozen times, I love it that much. The characters are so rich and warm that you can't help but fall in love with all of them. The music is pure magic as well. Each time I watch it, I find another tiny detail that I fall in love with. Can you tell I like this movie?...you will to, but like fine wine, it gets better with age.

DVD Review: A Kiss is Just a Kiss ...
Summary: 5 Stars

but this exquisite blend of greed, passion, intrigue and idealism is one of the best dramas ever to emerge from a Hollywood lot. The script is so good that parts of it have become everyday catch phrases. You'll want to play it again and again, even if your name ain't Sam.

DVD Review: you are supposed to like it
Summary: 2 Stars

This movie is an Icon. And you are supposed to like it. People who made it had no idea what Europe was like in 1941. It is piece of ESCAPIST cinema with no affection and truth. It is rather succesfull comercial production but not real Art. "Highly entertaining and even inspiring" (words on the cover of the two disc set). It says it all! With War on the background and millions of people perishing. It is not about history? Well, then make pure romance and don't try to deal with something you have no idea about.

DVD Review: Magnifico!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is one of the greatest movies of the "good war" and all times. I have seen it a lot of times. The DVD came in an excellent condition and in time. Thanks! I know what I am talking about because in my 73 years old I have been journalist and writer. I am Juan Alborna-Salado but some friends call me "the Cuban American Hemingway".

DVD Review: Casablanca
Summary: 5 Stars

A timeless tale set on the coast of West Africa, the action, love, and suspense cannot be ignored or forgotten. Two lovers torn apart by a twist of fate years ago in Paris are reunited in Casablanca. Their meeting is a mess of bad timing, life-altering secrets, and unmistakable passion. Can they be united forever? Can love conquer all? Casablanca is a backdrop where these questions are tested while the lives of many hang in the balance. A superb performance by both Bogart and Bergman, this classic will last through the ages as one of the best love stories the world has ever known.

Description of Casablanca

The story of a struggle among individuals who have sought refuge in Casablanca after fleeing Nazi occupied Europe.
Genre: Feature Film-Drama
Rating: PG
Release Date: 7-JUN-2005
Media Type: DVD
A truly perfect movie, the 1942 Casablanca still wowsviewers today, and for good reason. Its unique story of a love triangle set against terribly high stakes in the war against a monster is sophisticated instead of outlandish, intriguing instead of garish. Humphrey Bogart plays the allegedly apolitical club owner in unoccupied French territory that is nevertheless crawling with Nazis; Ingrid Bergman is the lover who mysteriously deserted him in Paris; and Paul Heinreid is her heroic, slightly bewildered husband. Claude Rains, Sydney Greenstreet, Peter Lorre, and Conrad Veidt are among what may be the best supporting cast in the history of Hollywood films. This is certainly among the most spirited and ennobling movies ever made. --Tom Keogh
