DVD Reviews of CasablancaDVD Review: Blu-ray edition well worth it Summary: 5 StarsCasablanca, the film, needs no more reviews - it is a perfect film. This blu-ray release is fantastic. If you haven't seen the film in a theater or on blu-ray, you really haven't seen it. The print is beautiful and this should be used as a demo of blu-ray capabilities - it'll sell a lot of blu-ray units. The extras are kinda fun, especially "Carrotblanca" with Tweety Bird as Peter Lorre!
DVD Review: Casablanca Summary: 5 StarsStill one of the greatest movies of all time. Humphrey Bogart at his best. Classic story of love, war and espionage. They just don't make movies this good anymore.
DVD Review: A classic Summary: 4 StarsIt's a classic. If you love classics, you'll love it. If you're one of the young, snobby-minded people who think today's crap outshines old films and you just can't handle watching anything without color, forget about it.
DVD Review: Cheap Click Case Cover Summary: 4 StarsAmazon needs to indicate that this comes in a cheap click case and not a hard case as this matters to some of us choosing to buy this edition of the movie. Should be listed in the "details" of the product.
Movie is 5 stars, couldn't possibly be anything less, however, rated this edition a 4 due to the cheap case. This movie will be watched over and over for many years, but I doubt the case is up to the challenge. 50 cents more to the purchase price would be worth it!
DVD Review: Poor - did not meet expectations Summary: 1 StarsReading the advertisement you are left to believe this would be a re-mastered version, but it was only a rerecorded copy on Blu-Ray. Not any better than could be expected from a good DVD.
Missed to mark entirely for blu-ray.
Great movie - but DVD would have been the correct choice
Description of CasablancaThe story of a struggle among individuals who have sought refuge in Casablanca after fleeing Nazi occupied Europe. Genre: Feature Film-Drama Rating: PG Release Date: 7-JUN-2005 Media Type: DVD A truly perfect movie, the 1942 Casablanca still wows viewers today, and for good reason. Its unique story of a love triangle set against terribly high stakes in the war against a monster is sophisticated instead of outlandish, intriguing instead of garish. Humphrey Bogart plays the allegedly apolitical club owner in unoccupied French territory that is nevertheless crawling with Nazis; Ingrid Bergman is the lover who mysteriously deserted him in Paris; and Paul Heinreid is her heroic, slightly bewildered husband. Claude Rains, Sydney Greenstreet, Peter Lorre, and Conrad Veidt are among what may be the best supporting cast in the history of Hollywood films. This is certainly among the most spirited and ennobling movies ever made. --Tom Keogh A truly perfect movie, the 1942 Casablanca still wows viewers today, and for good reason.
