DVD Review: salut serge

I haven't tried this one yet, but I was surprised at all the comments about there being "so little out there" for teaching French to children.

I just have to mention "French is Fun with Serge the Cheeky Monkey." (also known as "Salut Serge") It is fantastic! My 5-year-old and 2 year-old love it and sing the songs all the time. It is a UK import, currently not available at amazon.com but I got mine through amazon.co.uk
They also have "First Fun with French" which my kids enjoy, too.

I felt an obligation to put that "out there". There are wonderful French learning DVD's available, just make amazon.com have a good reason to import them for us!

DVD Review: Excellent for first time learners, even adults

Bonjour les amis! is an excellent tool to start you kids (and yourself) on french. The narration is done by a female voice with a strong french accent. There's 6 lessons and each one introduces new vocabulary. The animation is a little slow, but I think that is exactly what I like about it. It doesn't overwhelm your little ones and gives them plenty of time to repeat. My kids, 3 and 5 yo, love to repeat and sing along and don't seem to get bored with the repetition. Remember, repeating is a good way to learn that really captives young children attention. I can't wait to see the other 2 volumes.
