DVD Reviews of Batman (Two-Disc Special Edition)DVD Review: Could've been darker Summary: 5 StarsThis is a solid Batman film, but falls short of The Dark Knight legacy of the original comics (thankfully, Christopher Nolan has brought that vision to life).
This is Jack Nicholson's best role. He (like Ledger just did) became this role. It suits him. And while he is an entirely different Joker than
Ledger, he certainly isn't inferior. This is an adaptation of this Joker
as a jolly ringmaster of death, and Nicholson is perfectly cast here.
He electrocutes, shoots and poisons Gothamites with a gleeful persona
that is simultaneously hilarious and chilling. The viewer almost feels sad once he dies.
What doesn't work in this film is Batman himself. Keaton does a decent job, but that doesn't make up for a lack of screen time or a lighter
approach to mysterious Batman.

DVD Review: BATMAN GETS SERIOUS Summary: 5 StarsI believe I watched this movie six times in one week after it's release. I had always enjoyed Michael Keaton in comedic roles ( MR. MOM, and especially BEETLEJUICE ), and was curious to see what he'd do with a serious role. His low-key, brooding, portrayal of Bruce Wayne/Batman was excellent, and Jack Nicholson as the Joker was phenomenal, however I was even more impressed with Tim Burton's use of darkly operatic sets, and atmospheric shadows to heighten suspense. Danny Elfman's score ( with the use of only 6 minute's of Pince's songs ) added greatly to the mood of this classic.
I love BATMAN BEGINS, and THE DARK KNIGHT ( and I wholeheartedly agree that Heath Ledger was an even better Joker than Nicholson ), but this is the BATMAN movie to beat as far as I'm concerned.
DVD Review: The Best Batman Flick! Summary: 5 StarsBatman is the greatest Batman film of all time, with excellent actors, and an understandable plot!
Batman is about Bruce Wayne's parents getting killed by a mugger, and Bruce Wayne becoming Batman.
Batman has a villain, The Joker, to defeat and stop him from killing everyone in Gotham City!
Batman: played by the amazing Michael Keaton who is trying to stop the Joker.
Joker: His boss sends him purposely into a mission to get him back for having an affair with his daughter, hoping to kill him. Instead, he becomes the Joker after he falls into a pit of toxic waste. Played by Jack Nicholson.
Vicki Vale: A news reporter who is interested in Batman and is Bruce Wayne's love interest in this film. Batman has to continually rescue Vicki from the Joker. Played by Kim Basinger.
ALexander Knox: A news reporter who works with Vicki Vale and is also interested in Batman. Near the beginning of the film he draws what he thinks Batman looks like: A six-foot-tall bat in cape. Played by Robert Wuhl.
Alfred: Bruce Wayne's faithful butler; took care of Bruce when his parents were killed. PLayed by Michael Gough.
Commisioner Gordon: The head of the Police who wonders who Batman is. Played by Pat Hingle.
DA Harvey Dent: Billy Dee Williams plays an undisfigured Harvey Dent.
Be sure to buy this movie along with Batman Returns, Batman Forever, Batman Begins, and the THE DARK KNIGHT.
DO NOT Buy Batman & Robin. It's a horrible movie.
DVD Review: One of the best if not the best Batman movie. Summary: 5 StarsI have seen this movie during my childhood around 100 times, but it so different now after you compare it to the other batmans that came after, including Batman Begins and the Dark Knight.
Compared to the other movies, it is definetely one of the best. For a movie produced in the 80s, that one was very well directed. Very exciting with a very good story line.
Michael Keaton is a great Batman! Many think he was a better Batman than all the others.
Jack Nicholson was also a great Joker. Thumbs up for him for performing the joker character the way he did. But I gotta say, Heath Ledger is the real Joker!
Sound track is great. Batman's suit and weapons are very cool. I still think his batman car is way cooler than the ones in Batman Begins or Dark Knight.
Great Movie after all.

Thanks to the ambitious vision of director Tim Burton, the blockbuster hit of 1989 delivers the goods despite an occasionally spotty script, giving the caped crusader a thorough overhaul in keeping with the crime fighter's evolution in DC Comics. Michael Keaton strikes just the right mood as the brooding "Dark Knight" of Gotham City; Kim Basinger plays Gotham's intrepid reporter Vicki Vale; and Jack Nicholson goes wild as the maniacal and scene-stealing Joker, who plots a takeover of the city with his lethal Smilex gas. Triumphant Oscar-winning production design by the late Anton Furst turns Batman into a visual feast, and Burton brilliantly establishes a darkly mythic approach to Batman's legacy. Danny Elfman's now-classic score propels the action with bold, muscular verve. --Jeff Shannon
