DVD Review: I love Amazon And Disney! Summary: 5 Stars What a great present for my grandson for Easter! Arrived early! So many of my movie memories are Disney movies and Amazon has them all at a price I can afford! My grandaughter is into music: Just go to Amazon, purchase it and the postman will deliver it. I do not have to search the stores for anything! Click on Amazon and there it is! Bambi is a treasure for me!
Great condition! Fast delivery! I am so pleased to have Bambi to share with my grandchild! Thankyou!
DVD Review: Bambi Purchase Review Summary: 5 StarsI was very impressed with not only the quality of the product, but also the timing of delivery. I was told it could take up to 22 days to arrive and I received it in 5. It was a joy to have it arrive before my daughter and grandson arrived home for spring break. It's my daughter's favorite movie and I wanted to have it returned to my video library so my grandson could enjoy the same movie his momma and his mawmaw both enjoyed as girls.
DVD Review: perfect for disney fan Summary: 5 Starsdisney movies are desired by anyone with children, especially girls, the problem is they are very difficult to find. i looked in all the major stores for dvds to purchase and asked around, and was always told the same thing, they only come out during certain times, they arent produced anymore etc. so i got the next best thing, vhs. Vhs movies are easy to find online and considerably cheaper than purchasing a dvd. most are used, but in very excellent condition depending upon which seller you choose. i have purchased about 10 disney vhs movies through amazon.com, and am pleased with all. the only thing that is sort of ironic is usually the shipping costs more than the product itself!:P
DVD Review: A Classic To Fawn Over Summary: 5 StarsI haven't seen this movie since I was a kid of about seven or eight. I didn't realize that I was just a couple of years younger at that point than my dad was when the movie was originally released in '42.
The beginning shows the superior artistry in telling the story. It comes across as real woods. For the most part, the animals behaved like animals (though I don't think deer talk to rabbits in real life).
The best part of the DVD is the story board, where they go through the movie with the creators telling their thoughts about what to do and comparing it with previous movies.
One part of the movie that is fantasy is that man is the only predator. In real life, the old wise owl and Flower would be preadators as well. Coyotes and wolves and mountain lions and bob cats were all absent from this forest.
I found this a very scary movie when I was young. Parents would want to watch this with their kids, especially young ones.
Description of Bambi (2-Disc Special Platinum Edition)The forest comes alive with BAMBI, the critically acclaimed coming-of-age story that has thrilled and entertained generations of fans. Now digitally restored with state-of-the-art technology, BAMBI sparkles in this new Special Edition. This grand adventure is full of humor, heart, and the most beloved characters of all time -- Bambi, the wide-eyed fawn, his playful pal Thumper, the lovable skunk Flower, and wise Friend Owl. Featuring breathtakingly beautiful artwork and Academy Award(R)- nominated music (1942, Best Scoring Of A Dramatic Or Comedy Picture and Best Song, "Love Is A Song") Bambi's story unfolds from season to season as the young prince of the forest learns valuable lessons about friendship, love, and the miracle of life. Everyone will be "twitterpated" by this endearing classic tale of BAMBI, one of Walt Disney's greatest triumphs and a film experience you'll never forget. It always comes up when people are comparing their most traumatic movie experiences: "the death of Bambi's mother," a recollection that can bring a shudder to even the most jaded filmgoer. That primal separation (which is no less stunning for happening off-screen) is the centerpiece of Bambi, Walt Disney's 1942 animated classic, but it is by no means the only bold stroke in the film. In its swift but somehow leisurely 69 minutes, Bambi covers a year in the life of a young deer. But in a bigger way, it measures the life cycle itself, from birth to adulthood, from childhood's freedom to grown-up responsibility. All of this is rendered in cheeky, fleet-footed style--the movie doesn't lecture, or make you feel you're being fed something that's good for you. The animation is miraculous, a lush forest in which nature is a constantly unfolding miracle (even in a spectacular fire, or those dark moments when "man was in the forest"). There are probably easier animals to draw than a young deer, and the Disney animators set themselves a challenge with Bambi's wobbly glide across an ice-covered lake, his spindly legs akimbo; but the sequence is effortless and charming. If Bambi himself is just a bit dull--such is the fate of an Everydeer--his rabbit sidekick Thumper and a skunk named Flower more than make up for it. Many of the early Disney features have their share of lyrical moments and universal truths, but Bambi is so simple, so pure, it's almost transparent. You might borrow a phrase from Thumper and say it's downright twitterpated. --Robert Horton
