DVD Review: Holds my 2 year old's attention!

My daughter has been interested in taking ballet since she could walk. She has to be three to dance here in town so I was looking for a video she could do at home.
These steps are good simple steps for little girls who are looking to see what ballet is all about. The instructor even has the girls doing some stretches on the floor which is good to develop their flexibility - a must for any dancer! She also has an advanced student (teenager) demonstrating and following along with the girls. I feel it makes my daughter want to do well so she can be just like her.
Everyday when my daughter comes home from daycare she dresses herself up and pops this ballet DVD in. She enjoys seeing the other little girls dancing and feels a part of the class. She is learning a lot and can do the exercises pretty well. She will be three by the end of this month and is well prepared to start dancing at the local studio. This video is a good value for your money. Enjoy!

Budding ballerinas ages 4 to 6 receive a thorough introduction to ballet at the tutelage of "Miss Rosemary" Boross in this 36-minute video. The program features Rosemary Boross, a student helper, and a small class of preschool age dancers as they explore the basics of warming up at the barre, stretching, center work, dancing across the floor, and revérénce. Miss Rosemary first describes and demonstrates steps like plié, tendu, suté, chassé, and grande jeté, then leads her class through each step to the accompaniment of original piano music by Bruce Stephen Foster. Because the program covers a large variety of steps and progresses fairly quickly, it is most effective when used in conjunction with enrollment in an introductory ballet class. Alternately, young dancers may want to view the video in short segments, then follow with ample practice time to ensure the correct execution of each individual step. --Tami Horiuchi
