There comes a time in this movie when you find yourself making the choice between a brightly wrapped package under the tree, and the bright face of a child as they feel cool clean water run over their face for the very first time. A time when you wonder if you worship Jesus . . . or gifts on Christmas morning. How many times I arrive at Christmas Eve service worrying about what is not yet done for Christmas morning - forgetting this is the time to stop and worship God fully. I've watched Advent Conspiracy grow from the beginning, watched churches and individuals get involved in a real way, and watched the change that has come over our church and our family through the holiday seasons. With less shopping and less spending, there's less stress. There's more time for those you truly adore, and more time to truly worship - without the credit card balance haunting you. When a gift is given to Advent Conspiracy to enable them to go build these wells, there's no doubt in your mind whether the person is going to enjoy the gift, whether it was money well spent . . . however, the gift will be regifted . . . 1,000 times over. Children will live, moms won't have to walk miles and miles and stand in line for water, the lives of these people will have one huge burden lifted from their heavy shoulders. The gifts I do give and receive had more meaning. More care and love has been poured in to them. It becomes the story of the littly boy with the few fish, and what God does with his resources. The few gifts are made glorious and meaningful. And what's left over provides for many in need.
