DVD Reviews of Action Words! 1DVD Review: Has held baby's interest completely from 4 months to 15 months! Summary: 5 StarsThis entire Baby Bumblebee series is excellent for babies aged 3 months to 3 years. Babies love to see other kids and other babies on the television with the objects and names of things that they are learning. The music is catchy for babies and young toddlers as well.
My infant son started watching these videos at around 4 months of age when we purchased the entire set. He'd ignored all cartoons and other shows up to this point. He hated Barney, Sesame Street, Clifford, Elmo, and all of the Baby Einstein DVDs we'd shown him before trying Baby Bumblebee. We ordered Baby Bumblebee Vocabulary 1-5, Baby Bumblebee Action Words 1-3, Baby Bumblebee Around the House, Baby Bumblebee Question Words, Baby Bumblebee Opposites, Baby Bumblebee Olivia and Otis, Baby Bumblebee Crazy for Colors, Baby Bumbebee 123's disk 1 and 2, Baby Bumblebee ABC's, and Baby Bumblebee Motorized Madness. He's loved the Baby Bumblee Vocab 1-5, Action Words 1-3, Crazy for Colors, ABCs, 123s disk 1 and 2, and Opposites DVDs from 4 months of age and counting...he's now 15 months and still watches every second of them intently anytime they are on. He got interested in the Baby Bumblebee Words Around the House, Question Words, and Olivia and Otis at age 1, and now these hold his attention completely just as the other Baby Bumblebee DVD's still do.
He never has liked Baby Bumblebee Motorized Madness...think that DVD is the one bust in the set so don't waste your money purchasing that DVD. The rest are great though. We haven't found another baby shows series to even come close to matching his level of interest than Baby Bumblebee. My son is not autistic, but he does like to learn with the combination of visual, auditory, and repeats of words and phrases that this set employs. We highly recommend them!! You will finally be able to make a phone call or go do some dishes or laudry when you need a break from entertaining baby. We spent a lot ordering the entire Baby Bumblee set, but it turned out to be a good purchase and that's more than I can say for most of the other series we've spent an arm and a leg purchasing.
In the last month, my 15-month-old son has paid some attention to the Fisher Price Baby DVDs, Baby Nick Jr Curious Buddies DVDs (especially the At the Beach DVD...the others he pays little attention to), the Baby Einstein Signing DVD's (not the other Baby Einstein DVDs), a few of the First Impression DVD (he ignores most the DVDs in the set), half of the Brainy Baby DVDS (especially the numbers one in this set as it goes to 20 and that was new for him as the rest only go to 10), and he also likes the Talking Hands DVD rather well. Other than these, I'm still searching for shows he might like. He's 15 months and seems to mainly like shows that show objects and name them. He must be really wanting to learn to say more words and have the names of ones he already does know reinforced by the Baby Bumblebee DVDs. People have told me how great the Baby Einstein DVDs are, but they are still not well liked by my 15 month old. For us, Baby Bumbleebee has provided months of educational and entertainment value for the amount spent. We've practically worn out the DVDs. Hope this helps some other parents trying to navigate the sea of baby shows out there to purchase. Unfortunately for us, we've got a library of different baby series at this point. The set of Baby Bumblebee is by far the best set of baby shows we've found to date.
DVD Review: Clear vocabulary builder video Summary: 5 StarsWhen I was told my 2 year old needed to boost her vocabulary at her 2 year wellness check, I searched everywhere for vocabulary building tools. I found I can rely on some good children's videos. The Baby Bumblebee series is one of those. The words are presented clearly with children demonstrating the action. This helped my almost 3 year old understand the word meanings. Not as entertaining as the Baby Einstein - Baby's Favorite Places - First Words Around Town videos. She lost interest after 2 viewings. But good in vocabulary building. I found a new series called Brainy Yogis: Everyday Words that was also good in vocabulary building, but is Montessori-based. This video kept her interest a while longer.
DVD Review: Good - but make sure your kid is OK Summary: 4 StarsI have used Bumblebee's initial Noun ( labelling videos) for my 3 year old autistic son - and they were a big hit - they were really effective and he watched them avidly
so we naturally graduated to this series - and to be careful with money we only bought action words 1 - this too is watched - and though the kid is not going crazy with this, he is still picking up sentences and repeating words - which is v good for us
So my rec is - this video is great and if you get it at a discount - we bought at $17 - it is VFM
DVD Review: Talk Summary: 5 StarsFast delivery, item is for an autistic person and is what I was looking for.
DVD Review: Action Words Summary: 4 StarsI bought this DVD for my grandson who is three years old and was diagnosed with autism when he was two. His sister is four. Both of these children loved watching the video but did not want to repeat watching like with the Bounce videos. I thought the DVD was well put together. I think it was a little slow for these two children. They like music and up tempo music. I still would recommend this video and I just put it on in between their other videos. You cannot get enough variety.
