Even having the Vol. 3 A&C Collection, this is good to have for the commentary. Also, it's good to have a classic like this on a single disc. Perfect DVD also has documentary.

DVD Review: The best A & C effort

Although I have seen many A & C movies this is the best AND the ONLY one that I own. It has an interesting plot, some likeable charcters ( not Bud Abbott ), and Universals "Big 3" of the 'Monster Era' ( Drac, Frank, & Wolf ).

It is a movie worth owning for the entire family to view. Wait till you get to the part, "Who screamed ?". It is funny and entertaining. The "great from 1948". Enjoy.

DVD Review: What Comedy Should Be

This is one of the greatest comedies ever made, back in an era when they knew what real comedy is.
While today, Will Ferrell and Jack Black only make attempts at comedy and only ending up in promoting stupidity. Abbott and Costello are true legends and masters.
What do I think of this movie, well, I've burned through 4 copies of them, so I really Love It !
Seeing the legendary charectors is just great, although my personal favortite, the Creature from the Black Lagoon, was left out, it's a great showing of the others while not taking anything away from their mythos.
Great film for the ENTIRE family !!!

To be honest, I am not a big fan of Bud Abbott and Lou Costello but this is a funny movie, considered their best by most critics and, for once, I agree with them.

I mean, where else can you see The Wolf Man, Frankenstein and Dracula all together in the same film? Not only that, we get two of the original actors who actually played those roles: Lon Chaney (wolf man) and Bela Lugosi (Dracula).

The special-effects are terrible but, hey, the film is close to 60 years old. If you are going to see only one A-C film, this is the one you might want to get.

Universal Pictures made a great deal of money from its monster movies in the 1930s. In the early '40s, the burlesque team of Bud Abbott and Lou Costello kept the studio's coffers full. When the two franchises were combined in 1948, the result was another windfall--despite the apparent oil-and-water mix of subject matter. Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein was the first of these summit meetings, although the title is a misnomer. Actually, Bud and Lou bump into most of the Universal heavy-hitters, including Count Dracula (played by B?la Lugosi himself), the Wolfman (Lon Chaney Jr.), and the Frankenstein monster (veteran monster Glenn Strange). There's even a token appearance by the Invisible Man, whose disembodied voice is recognizable as that of Vincent Price. Sure enough, the film is funny, especially since it gives the portly Costello multiple opportunities to do his wide-eyed, quivering scaredy-cat routine. Audiences ate it up, and in future installments Bud and Lou would run into Boris Karloff, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, the Invisible Man, and the Mummy. But the first was the best. --Robert Horton
