DVD Review: A brief but fascinating look "inside the shadows"

Granted a rare 12-day visa, Diane Sawyer and her ABC News crew travel to Pyongyang, North Korea, and share various footage of this isolated, secretive country. It is a brief but fascinating look "inside the shadows."
With an average running time of 40 minutes, one glimpses at what life is like inside this communist country, albeit for the affluent in the nation's capital Pyongyang. A cult of personality is evident. Images of Kim Il-Sung and his son Kim Jong-Il, "The Dear Leader," are everywhere. Portraits of the two men are displayed throughout public buildings and inside private homes. North Koreans proudly wear their Kim Il-Sung pins - even brides have them on their gowns! Also interesting to watch were children as young as age 3 dance in precise, robotic fashions. As Diane Sawyer said, it is something out of Disney's It's a Small World.
One of the most captivating aspects of this documentary was the visit to a high school classroom where an elite group of students was learning English. These students seemed highly intelligent, yet they had no clue that their favorite movies like Shrek and Toy Story came from America, their country's enemy camp. Indeed, this was quite a relevation of just how closed off from the world the North Korean people are.
Even though there were limits as to what ABC News could film - due to the constant presence of DPRK government "minders" - this enjoyable, intriguing, and informative DVD is a real eye-opener to, quite literally, a whole different world.
