DVD Reviews of A Year in ProvenceDVD Review: Exquisite holiday in France Summary: 5 Stars"A Year in Provence" provides an insightful, fun and funny view about a well-off English coupe who decide to live in France for a while. Their experiences are set between the four seasons that comprise a year and are a delight to any person in love with the French culture. Also it is interesting to watch their daily life in a small town in France's Provence region, a take not so common in movies set in that country.
I definitely recommend it to anyone rather acquainted or not with beautiful France, as it is an entertaining and enjoyable movie from beginning to end.
DVD Review: A Year in Provence on dvd Summary: 5 StarsThis is a wonderful series and I absolutely enjoyed watching it again after so many years since it aired on tv. The trials and tribulations of a couple that move to Provence to live their dream was just as charming and funny as the first time around. I was so happy to get this dvd set brand new factory sealed for a great price. The only problem is with the picture quality of the dvd. It is slightly fuzzy, color is toned down, and the sound quality is also bad (I had to raise the volume to the max to hear it at a normal level). It seems they did not do a good job when they transferred it from VHS, unfortunately that is very common lately. Still I'm glad I was able to get it at a very low price.
DVD Review: My Wife & I Love this one. Summary: 5 StarsGet this Dvd and sit back and laugh as you learn what life is like in Provence. You can enjoy this one over and over, it doesn't get old!
DVD Review: Delightful Summary: 5 StarsIt's close to the book but that's not important, it is delightful. Very enjoyable, epically if you know any French people (my wife). This isn't Star Wars or From Here to Eternity or some American big production, it is very well done and a pleasure to watch full of laughs.

Description of A Year in ProvenceThe hilarious autobiographical account of peter & his wife annie & their experiences in moving from london to rural southern france. Studio: A&e Home Video Release Date: 01/02/2007 Run time: 360 minutes Rating: Nr A Year in Provence, the made-for-TV version of the bestselling book by Peter Mayle, captures a year in the lives of Brits Mayle (John Thaw) and his wife Annie (Lindsay Duncan) in southern France. The Mayles both revel in and endure what for most would be a fantasy experience: leaving dull jobs, acquiring an old farmhouse in Provence, and (for Peter) attempting to write a novel in the midst of bucolic countryside, gourmet food and drink, and interesting people. With an Agatha Christie-meets-To the Manor Born sensibility, the Mayles brave mistral winds, truffle season and the Mafia that surrounds it, exasperating neighbors, constant summer guests, an attempt at old-fashioned winemaking, and a Father Christmas drama--all while trying to renovate their kitchen. This is not an in-depth look at expatriate living; rather, Mayle gives us a pastiche of the comedic situations he and his wife find themselves in. Some viewers may yearn for more shots of the scenic locations and a more serious treatment of Proven?al culture, but most will find this a whimsical adventure and an entertaining slice of fantasy meets reality. --Stefanie Durbin
