DVD Reviews of A Nightmare on Elm Street 2 - Freddy's Revenge

DVD Review: Get out of my house!
Summary: 2 Stars

After reading the reviews on this film on this site, I decided to go out and purchase the first and second one. The first one was great, but I can't say so much about this "film".
What we get in this slapped together tragedy is a white house on Elm Street, ugly chicks, '80's cliches, hazy logic, tons of gay undertones, male nudity, S & M refrences, and just an ounce of Freddy.
The begining was great, with Freddy driving the bus with a bunch of '80's chicks and our main character. After that, we see 1428 Elm Steet and a very dysfunctional family. The main character, Jessie (what a feminine name), has been dreaming about Freddy. So Freddy comes to Jessie one night and delivers his message that he wants to take over his body. Unfortunetly, for Freddy, Jessie is a weak, annoying, sissy of a man. And boy, he screams better than Jaime Lee Curtis, Linda Blair, Neve Campbell, and Sarah Michelle Gellar combined.
Then the movie drags on and Lisa (pretty name and voice, ugly chick) comes over and see little Jessie playing some Salt & Pepper on the radio and dancing to it like he's some kind of male exotic dancer. They uncover a diary written by Nancy from the far superior first one. Jessie has also heard things about the house from a popular guy from school named Grady (Jessie's lover). Somehow, Jessie walks out of his house at night after a bird combusts in thin freakin air!! How the hell is that supposed to happen?! Jessie even screams better than his sister. He He!
I don't know if Jessie had a fantasy about his gym teacher (who is into S&M stuff) or what cause he walked in the pourin rain to a leather bar in the middle of the night to see him. The gym teacher spots him and takes him back to school and makes him run laps, climb rope and do push ups before he tells him to "hit the showers". Man, that gym teacher must love to see little Jessie and Grady in the showers. His gym teacher gets killed off in a very offensive manner. Jessie then gets all panicky and more and more feminine as the movie progresses. Lisa is falling in love with him, but Jessie doesn't want her, he wants Grady. That's why at the pool party Freddy tried to ruin it between him and Lisa. His dad thinks he's on drugs and his mom thinks he's flipped his wig.
Jessie eventually tries to kill little sister one night and then goes to school. The scene at lunch gave the most evidence to Jessie and Grady's little "relationship" because Jessie was feeling down and Grady wanted to take him to a movie. How sweet.
ANYWAYZ...
Jessie then goes to the party and him and Lisa make it to second base and they're all on the floor makin out. Then Jessie sneaks into Grady's room (Hmmm...I wonder how he knew how to sneak into his room so good...he's had practice) and asks his lover if he can make sure he keeps him awake. Grady eventually tries to go to sleep and is killed off by Freddy/Jessie in his underwear. The rest of the movie is so corny.....you won't believe!!
Mmm-kay... how can Freddy just enter the real world at will? The first one clearly states that he only parade around in dreams and he has to get pulled out of a dream to come into the real world. Why did a bird combust into thin air and temperatures in the house reach 90 something degrees if Freddy had not gotten into the real world yet? Sometimes I think Mr. Walsh (Jessie's Papi) was right and the Jessie did put a cherry bomb into his kid sister's parakeet. What a mean big brother to have. That was all rubbish. The plot at time did not make damn sense. And all those '80's fashions were a laugh. And why did Freddy wanna possess some gay boy? This is not "The Exorcist"! Yes this movie is basically a rip off of "The Exorcist". See the first one was fast paced and scary. This one was slow and a little low in the scares department. And the whole Freddy ripping outta Jessie's body was disgusting not scary. It was sick. I liked the cast from the first one, but this cast were horrible! And the main character.........some cross between Marc Singer and Mark Hamill. And he is over-acting like anything. He is on some serious method or something. I know it's a semi-serious movie, but come on, there's no reason for all the super-fancy acting. Jessie is a weak man and don't even get me started on Lisa (Kim Meyers who is Meryl Streep's little sister who couldn't act cute)who looks rather fetching in a one piece swim suit, who can't act to save her life. And I really don't get the snake part. What the hell was that all about? Jessie was a real man-lover. He had the finger pointing, the high-pitched whiny voice, and just look at his eyes in the bedroom scene with Grady. There is pure love in Jessie's eyes that I can only compare it to husband and wife after not seeing each other for five years. Jessie killed him.
The ending is what really killed this movie. The ending was one terrible piece of rubbish about how much she wanted Jessie back and some other stuff. Oh well Jessie does come back and it was so stupid how they killed Freddy on this one. I guess the theme is "love conquers all". I don't know what they were thinking when they wrote this utter junk. The first film was about not falling alseep....this film makes you fall asleep. The chicks are about as hot as a December day in Vancouver, British Columbia. And they're all whiny and stupid, especially the one wit the '80's greasy mop hair who was always sexual. The acting is so over the top from everyone except the kid sister who barely had any screen time. Freddy even had more screen time than the little brat and that's really saying something. Freddy didn't get nearly as much screen time as he did in this film's predecessor. All Freddy does is appear in dark shadows and smoke and steam you can never really get a good look at him. And them brownish contact lenses needed to stay in the contact lens case. Okay....Okay.....okay I recant my statement, Robert Englund did do a good job on his acting part, but he alone couldn't save this terrible movie.
So with terrible acting, twisted homosexual subplots, '80's fashions and wit all the wit and sagacity of a dead kitten and with more cliched idocy than you'll know how to handle, please bring a pillow, your teddy bear and a bottle before veiwing this movie, you're bound to fall asleep.
