DVD Reviews of 24 - Season SixDVD Review: WHY THE HELL DIDN'T THEY JUST KILL HIM Summary: 4 StarsThis was a good season. But I have to say that a lot of the things that went down this season could have been prevented from happening. But what really pissed me off in the end was after Josh shot Phillip and Jack intercepted. The damn kid clearly saw Phillip with the chip and didn't say anything about it. Everyone kept saying how scared and angry the Josh was, but if his head was clear enough to shoot Phillip, then he was clear enough to know to tell Jack about the chip, which was the whole purpose for why the whole situation was happening in the first place. I haven't even finished watching the last show yet because this alone has pissed me the hell off. I will finish writing when I get done watching, but I don't have to be a genius to figure out what is about to happen next. Stay tuned......
15 minutes later..
Somehow, I do not feel relieved at how this season ended. I don't believe the other Bauer is dead because I haven't seen the body. Therefore, I still think the component is out there. And I highly doubt that a man like Phillip Bauer was just going to lie there and take the end without at least giving up a fight. I'm giving this season 3 stars because of how it ended. Yet I will leave the 4 star rating because of the overall accomplishments of the rest of the season that ended with the killing of Abu Fayed. Everything else after that sunk the remainder of the show and was not needed. I'm losing my faith in 24.
DVD Review: What happened? Summary: 2 StarsMost of the other reviews here have captured the disappointment of 24 fans. I was, and suppose am still, the kind of fan that forbade anyone to call or interupt me while watching the show. I wanted to be swept up in it and often was. Even though some elements of the show repeated themselves over the seasons, it was still done in a fresh and suspenseful way. The sixth season? It became almost a parody of itself. Too many torture scenes, too much patriotic rhetoric pounded over our heads as justificition for what was happening, too little interpersonal interaction. One of the reasons Season 5 was so good was that we got to see more sides of characters like Buchanan, or the arc Karen Hayes had, or the complex relationships between the Logans. I won't beat a dead horse with more critique, but here's to hoping season 7 will bring back the edge of your seat excitement we all love about the show...
DVD Review: At best this season is completely depressing Summary: 2 StarsLet's review: First season his wife dies. Third season he is forced to kill a colleage and go into hiding after faking his own death. Forth season his daughter hates him for "coming back to life" and oh yeah, two of his closest friends (who were also main characters) suffer and die. Fifth season he reconnects with the new love in his life and after ALL he has been through Jack finally has a chance at love again along with reconnecting with his daughter... But then he is kidnapped at the very end of the season and tortured for two years by the Chinese. Ok ok, I can overlook all of that but season 6 did NOTHING but beat the crap out of Jack and take EVERYTHING from him. The season ends with him overlooking a cliff ready to take his own pathetic life with the echo of "everything you touch either dies or is eventually killed" running through his head. Season 6 was not only poorly written as writers scraped the barrel and repeated everything they've already done, but they somehow believe it was a good idea to beat the crap out of the main character until the audience had no feeling left in them. At best this season is completely depressing and dragged out.
This review has nothing to do with Amazon.com, and everthing to do with 24.
